Why Ryu? Doesn't Ken's dragon punch have more reach (and the cool fire thing in Super SFII)? Also his hurricane kick hits multiple times. And who can forget the rolling kick throw?

Ryu's fireball was more damaging than Kens. I ruled with Ryu.

I liked Ryu and Chun Li...partly because they were my favorite and partly cause I was pretty much only decent with them. I loved SFII but I was only average at the game. And I lost serious touch with the franchise after SSFII...all those Alpha editions, then Marvel vs. Capcom; I'm like wtf?! I've really lost touch w/ the fighting genre in general.

I used to think I was the **** until I got thrashed by a friend on his Saturn edition Alpha2 or Alpha3 in law school. Good thing he dropped out after 1 semester to go to med school so I can reclaim my throne. Actually, one of you just might be him as he was from Houston too.

Populairty wise, no one comes close to Ryu, he's the best looking, and the coolest character in the game.

Skill wise, I don't know if he's the best or not, but he should be there in the top depend on how you use him.

For me, easy choice, Ryu because of his cool.

Seriously, I could pwn each and every single one of you with Ken. It's not even funny.

Ryu's fireball is faster and his hurricane kick does a crapload of damage.

remember in the arcade game, when the game over screen came, people used to smash all the buttons so the time would run out...so the next person couldnt put in a quarter to continue the game?

Ryu or Ken but I favored Ken because of his dragon punch. On console systems (super nintendo, PS1, PS2, etc) I used either interchangeably well. I even pretty much mastered Fei Long one summer. But at the arcades, it was always Ken. I don't rely on the fireball as much as I do on the dragon punch (easier move for me to pull off). And the only two buttons I needed/knew was Fierce and Roundhouse. :D

I owned with Ken. I loved using the big dragon punch when my opponent was in the process of launching a fire ball. Puts a hop in my step.

And nothing takes an opponent off their game than to cheaply throw them. Now they're determine to throw you back and patience is out the window. Good times.

Dhalsim because at the age of 10 it was hard for me to do a fire-ball (totally new concept in video game for me at the time). That slide and long range can help to balance the fight against some of those guys.

Balrog. But if I couldn't have him, I went with Ryu.
