My vote. Al Jefferson can play the 4 and 5. He's just one year older than Josh Smith. And he's one of the few big guys with a solid post game. As much as I'd love Josh Smith on this team, Al Jefferson would be great long term, because truth is that when nba players get older, their post skills are always more reliable than their athleticism. Hence Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and eventually LeBron James.
People are just naming names. Love, Cousins, Aldridge...they are on their team for the unforeseeable future. It's going to take one of these guys wanting out of their situation for it to happen. Although if Minny continues to miss the playoffs Love could go...right to the Lakers after Kobe and Nash retire...
Lol at people saying Kevin Love. That dude ain't leavin Rubio and that perfect situation in Minny to come south so forget about that. Josh Smith is OVERRATED, don't want him. My first choice would be Demarcus Cousins. Another young guy on the team to really set this team up nicely for the next ten years or so if we can keep that core. That would be SCARY. Can y'all imagine this or the next 7-8 years?!? Lin Harden Parsons Cousins Asik Lamarcus Aldridge would be my second choice for sure. Efficient low post player with Texas ties... Plus he's or of my favorite Longhorns of all time
Please stop it about Josh Smith, it's obvious most guys are not following the Hawks. You barely see any star potential player that frustrates fans more. Incredibly bad shot selection(one foot inside 3pt line, jacks it up all the time when being remotely open). Doesn't bang inside as much as you want him and has questionable ball iq and decision making. Not a guy you want as your 2nd option of max guy, read the Hawks forums.
I'm going to say it again, don't be surprised if Morey makes a run at Millsap. Unrestricted free agent. Moreyball kind of player: Combo forward who plays smart and plays hard, and is very versatile and efficient.
i'd expect he gets an extension though. i'd extend him if i was the Jazz. Kanter/Favors/Millsap is a heck of a rotation and it fits the Jazz identity and system. While Al Jefferson has always seemed out of place. He's such a typical, traditional Knicks player that it's a shame the Knicks are loaded up front..
Wouldn't it be fun if know Howard is willing to come to houston and we get him after all? I still don't want him but would be funny. It's too early to tell but I doubt with Lin being here we will offer the max to CP3. Do no want! Josh Smith is not the best option, but at least he has Houston on his list and he seems like a nice guy. Aldridge would be great!
I think the obvious hole now in our lineup is a reliable post player. 1. Demarcus Cousins (Sacramento will probably not trade him nor let him go in restricted free agency IE - Pipedream ) 2. LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland's last hope during their rebuilding phase, unlikely to let him go without good assets being sent their way - no they probably don't want DMO and Royce White) 3. Al Jefferson (Could be a good pickup in the offseason as he is an unrestricted free agent and Utah will be unlikely to pay him. It is more likely he is traded before the trade deadline so they don't lose an asset for nothing. Rockets could enter here and offer somethings in a 3 way??) 4. Zach Randolph (Memphis is stuck in the middle of the Western conference playoffs with 2 highly paid post players. He could be had for cents on the dollar but the real question is whether he is worth it. 2 playoffs ago he was an absolute beast, but since he has been injured and only played 28 of the 66 games last season with significant drop off in production. He may be worth a look as someone who give experience and can be an effective post player.) I honestly think Al Jefferson by the deadline if the team is playing well and making some noise in the western conference. He might be a lot older than the rest of the youth movement but could be potentially resigned for less than his contract is now. Also, he is a machine in the post. I'd say that Morey has him scouted and wants to put an efficient post player in the team and someone who isn't a sieve on the defensive end (e.g. Scola). The alternative option is that one of our current PFs show serious growth and can post up. Either that or we go the way of OKC and ignore the post altogether. It certainly will be an interesting season and it's really good that we are finally seeing solid progress in the direction that the Rockets management have been talking since Yao retired.
Utah is most definitely going to have to ship out either Millsap or Jefferson, to make room for the Kanter/Favors. I didn't like Jefferson initially, but pairing him with Asik could cancel out his defensive flaws. Martin probably would have been the only way to get that done, as i'm sure they wanted a competent shooting 2 to move Hayward back to the 3.
Asik is a Center as is big Al. I like to go with Asik who is a monster defender/rebounder with more upside. What we need is a scoring PF and someone like Lemarcus Aldridge would fit that requirement .
Al Jefferson has been playing center for Utah because of their plethora of big men, but honestly he's more of a power forward.
Milsap is a guy that would plug in nicely to this squad. With Favors and Kanter as their front court of the future, it seems unlikely that they try to re-sign him. He's not as flashy as J-Smoove, but I think he may be a better fit on this team.
The best option Is cousin and Aldridge....j.Smith is t.Jones , buy I think t.j will be better then smith. I like cousins.... Lin Harden Parson/Jones T.Jones/cousins Cousins/asik
