I feel like if we don't get a top 10 pick like we're trying to, it's another wasted season.. It's funny looking back at the people who think we should have kept trying to win instead of "tanking" or getting better draft picks.. 3 years and the team is almost unwatchable and hasn't gotten better.. But hey at least we made it in 9th place!
Something you fail to add is that this is the first offseason the Rockets will have without the financial obligations to both McGrady and Yao. I can see both sides of the tank / dont tank issue , I believe tanking is unethical .... In the words of Herm Edwards - " You play to win the game." You wouldnt teach your kids to go lose in peewee baseball or pop warner football .... why the hell would we expect grown ass men who get paid to play and entertain to lose on purpose. But damn , getting a top pick can change the fortunes of a franchise , especially in the microcosm that is the NBA. What I think they "have to do" is cash in some of these "assets" to get higher in the draft or bring in that franchise altering player - which has been Morey's plan from the time Yao and McGrady left the court. Morey has made multple attempts at top talent - Amare , Melo , D-Will , Pau , CP3 , Bosh ... and even made a token attempt at Lebron. He's also attempted to move up in each of the last two drafts .... What about Brandon Roy - Thanks Portland. None of those attempts worked out but you have to understand is .... it takes three to tango in this situation - both GM's and the player , not to mention Stern. I have little doubt that at some point in the near future , Morey will be able to pull off that deal we are all waiting for , be it a high draft pick or a star player. It's just taking longer than we would like in this what have you done for me lately world of entertainment.
