The funny thing is Skip has been saying this for the past 2 years. He's right now, he was right before...He's a visionary who can think outside of the box.

BTW, I googled 'Skip Bayless' stupid statements' and the internet exploded, so take what I said w/ a grain of salt.

While I think in the short run that we are not as good, I do believe that in the long run we will benefit from this, since we are learning now how to play without Yao.

Did you just compare Billups with Skip to my Lou? Nice try. In his prime Wallace better than over the hill Deke, Maybe if Deke was in his prime then they would compare, Prince is better defensively than Battier and can take it to the rim, Wallace is better than Scolandry, Only Mcgrady is way better than hamilton.

    This BBS needs an ENEMA!

After 3 wins against nobody, we are ready to say the team is better without Yao?

I know I said trade him after next year because he is injury prone. But if he was healthy all the time, this team or ANY team would be SO lucky to have a player of this caliber.

    Every freakin
    Nincompoop with an opinion
Expects respect by posting stupid **** like
Ming being healthy is a detriment to the Rockets!....
    Asses!

I don't agree that the team is better without Yao, but Denver hardly qualifies as "nobody".

    Well,

They are close. And the Rockets did have home court...despite the crowd of 9k in the building! :p

we're def not better w/o yao, but i think we can get to the next level with yao's minutes cut down to around 35/game. this would go a long ways to prevent overtraining and injuries. this offense we got right now has really impressed me w/o yao, and i think if we could have a combo we would really wreck some ****

When we beat dallas and Lakers then we could brag.Denver was never a treat.Thursday will be tough because of the back-to-back, but if we win it would even be better.

I agree with Skip - Mutumbo is a better rebounder than Yao. He's more aggressive. I also believe Mutumbo is a much better defender than Yao, I don't even think that is debatable.

Defensively, Yes we are better with those guys in there. Offensively we give up some, but I'm comfortable with the offensive skills of Scola & Landry down low.

I didn't think we were actually beating those teams WITH Yao in the lineup.....

First off, Scola is our lone post presence. Landry isn't a post presence. He gets his buckets from 15 foot jumpers and hustle plays. You can't dump it down to him and expect him to get you a high percentage shot.

You're wrong. We're 1-1 against NO, 2-1 against the Spurs, and 1-1 against the Suns this year.

This is totally an opinion question. So anyone who bashes somebody for saying that this team is better w/out Yao or better with Yao should just keep it to themselves and say what you gotta say and not bash somebody for sayin his opinion!

Anyways, back to the thread title . . I don't think the rockets are a better team w/out Yao as a whole, but I think the way Yao left an imprint on this team, as he flowed through all the games he has played with this team, making team chemistry not with Yao to his team mates, but also making team chemistry with the players to players on this team. It's because of Yao that we're playing some mad good ball right, and we haven't lost yet because of him. Yes, Tracy is still on our team, he too makes a difference, but since Yao is out, it's because of HIM that our team chemistry is at the tip of the bar right now, and that is why we are still and WILL keep on winning.

Yao was not just a factor for our team, but he was also the X factor, he is our best player on the team. He's the one that created double teams and even triple teams which made the offense a bit groovy for the others on the team as he would throw it back for an open 3, and pass it down on the side as somebody would make an open cut because of his "famous always attracting player self."

Truth is, Rockets are playing extremely well without Yao right now, and it's tough not to say the Rockets are better w/out him, but the Rockets are better with him. Unless the Rockets get past the first round, make more noise and get to the western conf. finals, and make even more noise somehow and get to the Finals, I will then admit the Rockets ARE better w/out Yao, hands down, and I'm pretty sure everyone will agree.

different line ups have different influences.. but PG can penetrate whenever they want cuz there is a lack of Yao We have had many block shots since Yao left because too many players have a chance to penetrate

What people don't see about Yao is how much he forces teams to change the way they normally play. You hear opposing coaches say it all the time. Deke is great for blocks but he isn't going to make anyone change how they defend the Rockets (well- except for the fact that they'll be able to have another man to double someone up). lol

I think that the Rockets are just playing very confident right now. The shots are falling and everyone's making that extra pass. I'm still excited about the playoff's b/c I think that the team that plays the best doesn't have to be the one with the most talent on paper (see the Lakers from a few years back) - just the smarter team that plays harder and executes.

    Here is my criteria:

    a) can hold, expand or comeback to the win in the 4th.
    b) 4th quarter collapse.
    c) lose before entering the 4th.

    a)= team better without Yao.
    b)= equal .
    c)= worse.

    so far, we got 3 a). ...

I'd love to see the Rockets bring Yao off the bench against second-teamers and limit his minutes which may prolong his career. I know that flows contrary to most people's thoughts but he would be a difference maker. He already is. It would make him more durable.
