The Lakers and the Jazz both play good fundamental basketball which I enjoy. The Jazz cheat as much as they can which the Lakers do not do. I am tired of watching shoves under the basket. forearms and elbows, moving picks with elbows that can injure by Boozer (the clean one????) flops, flops and more flops. AK is averaging 6 fouls per game vs the Lakers and he has earned every one. Easy choice - I want the Lakers to kick to kick the tar out of the Jazz. Looking forward to a better called game 4 with Mauer not there, and the Lakers shooting 20+ more FT shots than the Sloanites.
Outside of Stockton and Malone, those Utah teams were pretty average. They had players, like Bailey, Eaton, and Malone....who I thought were ok, but nothing special. Eaton was tall and blocked alot of shots, but was he deserving of the DPOY over say Olajuwon, Robinson, or Pippen. The teams that went to the title had players, like Hornacek (who was near an all star level guard in his prime)......and everyone else (Ostertag, Russell, Foster, Keefe, Anderson, and Eisley). A great wily vets, but nothing special. I thought the Jazz were a very over-acheving team even with Malone and Stockton.....they took down what I thought were slightly betters teams talent wise: the Lakers, Rockets, and Trailblazers. I don't see how Malone got a 2nd MVP, which was over Tim Duncan. Who was clearly at the point a better all around player. Don't get me started on how he won the first one away from MJ.
Okur is not that bad of player, he's flawed, but most players are, even the superstars. He is a player I would want on my team, especially if you do not have center or someone to play PF. I believe he could make Detroit a better team if they keep him, which line do you like better...... Okur/R.Wallace/Prince or Wallace/Maxiell(Mcdyess)/Prince Last offseason, before we got Scola, you don't think we could've used someone like Okur for power forward.
I agree Okur would make a decent PF to any team, especially with his outside shot. However, the point I'm trying to make is that he is very underachieving for his size (besides the billion offensive rebounds he grabs a night by just standing under the basket). From a 7 foot starting center I would expect ability to post up and especially take the ball to the basket strong, which Okur cannot do. On the Jazz, Carlos Boozer plays the center position better than Okur.
Yeah, I despised them last season while we played them in the first round, but this time, I didn't as much...and I don't as I watch them play the Lakers.
Screw the Jazz!!! ...and Vanessa Hudgens should be dead to Kam <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AiebtW2Oy2A&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AiebtW2Oy2A&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
The Jazz are as deplorable today as they ever were. Anyone that wears that jersey sucks and should be considered less of a human being. They're not quite as nasty as they used to be ( I haven't seen any of them leg whip a pg like Stockton did Brent Price) but they still play beyond the line.
I know I'm in the extreme minority, but I've never found the Jazz as a team to be despicable. They just play a very physical brand of basketball, and as a result sometimes they cross a line. But I enjoy the way they play on offense, and I was always a big Stockton fan.
