Phi -- just looked it up on the Web. Washington D.C. has 180 embassies, not "about a thousand." Houston has 74 embassies. However, Houston has the largest medical center in the world. And if anyone (God forbid!!) has a heart attack, it IS kind of nice to know you can get Dr. Cooley or DeBakkey to look after you. Plus, Houston does have shopping that rivals those in New York or Paris and dining that has cracked the top 10 (if not the top 5) nationally. As for the argument that Houston shouldn't have the Olympics because traffic would be tremendous... SUCK IT UP!! By getting the Summer Olympics, Houston would have the immediate economic benefits of 9 Super Bowls, plus millions of dollars in added economic expansion for at least 10 years afterwards. Hell yeah, I think it would be worth dealing with the traffic under those circumstances!! ------------------ HOUSTON Rockets forever!!
