I finally saw these two on Conan last night. Gawwwwd, they were AWFUL. Who did they pay off to even get a record deal? I truly love all kinds of music as long as they can PLAY their instruments. I swear I have several students that play better than that chick...and they're sixth graders. I can't believe those two are making money doing this.
Don't neccesarily have to be a good musician to make good music. Sometimes you just have to be a good song-writer.
are you too good to listen to them now? Not just Michigan, but Motor Town. Detroit, Michigan. They live in 8 mile. Allright, they don't.
Wow, I couldn't agree with you more. There is no doubt they are talented. But... I wish I could work that into a new sig for myself.
Technical mastery has nothing to do with being a good musician, but people with no technical mastery are usually not good musicians either. Often times, they tend to become one-trick ponies who write the same song over and over again. That's not to say that technical mastery will give you the necessary creativity to write good songs. Rush is the perfect example of allowing technique to dictate what you write. As for the White Stripes, I haven't heard their new stuff so I will withhold judgment on their musical talent. Still, I'd rather see a more accomplished and experimental band do a 5-day gig than a neo-garage band.
my goodness, they rock and there is no question about it. all those who think otherwise, get thee to a school of Hard Rock immediately. pure, raw, blues, i dig it
methinks you need to go to hard rock school if you think they are hard rock...take it from me...they aint. they aint bad, just not hard rock.
