a little bit off topic, I have a question for networking guys: when I connect VPN to my workplace, the bittorent speed drops a lot, but my FTP speed to most sites increase dramatically. Why does connecting to the VPN at my workplace affect these speeds so much and so differently? Is there any way to fine tune my bittorent client and FTP to maximize the speed?
fyi: There are 84 active seeds right now. This bt will run just fine for another couple of days. It is natural to see slow speed as you first connect. The bt algorithm is not considering you important to the swarm, just yet. Once the algorithm sees you as a good peer, it will deliver more seeds to you and your speed will go up significantly. you are not seeing seeds in your azureus detail panel because you are seed. You only see seeds when they are seeding you. The "General" panel shows all seeds and peers that the tracker knows about. The number in parenthesis is the total, the number outside parenthesis is those speaking to you. so: Seeds: 10 (84) means there are 84 seeds, and 10 of them are seeding you.
gotcha...Was wonderin what the deal was with that. unfortunately...the help files didnt get installed withthe client in Linux....must be a bug. canoneer.... it has to do with ports. With most bt clients...you have to open the ports that it uploads on (6881-6890)...if your client doesnt upload...your download speeds are cut back...it is part of the bt algorithym....the faster and more you upload to help distribute the load...the faster you get bytes in return. More than likely...the IT guys at your work responsible for the vpn dont have it configured to allow incoming connections over those ports.
Azureus on Linux is wonderfully easy to use, and while seeding it has always shown me how many other seeds are seeding along with myself. 2.0.8.4 is the current version btw. Fixed a good amount of bugs from 2.0.8 (though they were mostly UI bugs)

Are you sure? I live in HK too. As far as I know, if you wanna watch NBA games here, you can watch at least one game a week in a free channel. But it's not easy to watch a Rockets game though.
R2K, thanks for the file. Did you tape the game to your hd, and encoded it? What encoding methods? If the original files are good, then you can definitely make a smoother, clearer encoding smaller size. If you don't mind, cut a 1 minutes clip from your original recording and BT it. Thanks again for providing the game.

Did some reading up, and finally discovered that my slow speed was due to being behind a firewall - some configuring is needed. Putting this link up for others who are having problems:firewall After following the instructions, my speed jumped from 3k to 40k, hope others find it just as useful.
That thing takes too long....who the hell want to wait all day for the damm thing to finish downloading. And i have broadband and it's like 24 hours? Man...make an Mpeg conversion on some key plays or something.
I would check into why yours is slow and everyone else's is not. even after the intial high speed seeds went offline...it was still only taking less than 4 hours or so. When I downloaded the inital file from the server it is stored at...it only took 30-40 minutes. if you dont want to bother....no skin off my nose. There seems to be plenty of other overseas fans that dont mind.
