The 40 point loss in the deciding game is one of the lowest moments I've ever had as a Rocket fan.

Man, although I was just 12, I remember this series like yesterday. Most heartbreaking series especially since we were up 2-0. I went to games 3 and 4 and was almost crying when we lost.

Then you have the Finley play of course, Josh Howard tripping Yao intentionally, and obviously the embarrassment of the 40 point loss in game 7. Yea that series left a mark.

Would love to beat them in the playoffs.

If I recall, I broke the television set and broke up with my girlfriend who told me I was overreacting, because it was just a game...

I remember looking at her & saying,
"You think this is just a f***ing game? Just. A. Game?
I'm sorry sweetheart, but this relationship just isn't going to work."

EDIT: That was the Utah series, Stockton shot.

The Dallas series, I smashed a television, punched a few holes in the wall and didn't speak to anyone for nearly a week...almost lost my job because I was so angry.

Rockets didn't just lose in '05, they made history. Up 2-0 on the road and still lose..... smh.

It sucked to lose, but I wasn't too disappointed because I didn't expect much from that team..... not against DAL.

THE most disappointing season (by far) of my 20 year Houston fandom is the '98 Astros. That team had World Series written all over it, but flamed out in the 1st Round.

    F***!!

Yup, I don't mind the non-call that much, it's the fact that Cuban was able to influence the referees and complained about Yao. I will always dislike the guy for that, zero respect! Then JVG speaks out and is fined, so the NBA was CLEARLY rigging the series and stoofd behind the corrupt referees. Then the Parsons deal and saying we are a organisation that does not value chemistry while he broke a championship team. No, **** Dallas and **** Cuban, bunch of racist cowboys down there!!

    not the same team.
the rockets team that lost by 40 in game 7, they weren't going to win anything.
    our weaknesses were completely exposed.

We have weaknesses on this team, but this team is much tougher and has superstars who HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN TO THE FINALS.

there are few teams that can exploit our weaknesses, Dallas is not one of them.

Dallas lost wasn't really that stinging , we lost by FORTY POINTS in game 7.

Clutch City was defined by being CLUTCH in the face of adversity, in game 7s.

The worst Rockets disappointment was the UTAH lost when we had home court.
I was 10x more pissed about that series. Losing at home .

That Utah team wasn't really that good at all.

Dallas was the tougher team, they proved that. We weren't.

Don't hate on the Astros team. The Astros making the world series was like seeing a UFO and real Aliens coming out of the ship.

Dallas tougher? My ass, if the refs had not rigged that series, we would've taken it in 5 or 6. FACT!

tell me a team who's ever won anything that has lost a 2-0 lead and lost a game 7 by 40 points.

    history shows NO TEAM.

what happened to that team after that? did we learn from the Dallas series and win a title? conference title? playoff series?

    NO.

that team got what it deserved.

Coaching takes on an increased importance in the playoffs. Avery Johnson completely outreached Van Gundy in that series. He made adjustments after the first two games and Van Gundy failed to counter.
