DaDakota, seriously, dude. do you not see how you ruin threads by posting too much. Can you let the rest of us talk? Do you really have to post 20 times in every thread??? Repeating your mantra everywhere?
Yeah, really!!! Please stop comparing Parsons to Battier. Stop reading stats because in-game, Parsons can put back missed shots with a dunk and that block shot on Leonard is a very athletic play. He isn't afraid to stare at Blake Griffin, the same can't be said of Battier. These plays can put more fire into the crowd and more energy to the team. Parsons has no fear, Battier plays safe, actually plays too nice in-game. McHale has done a great job, it is still early. Playing Chandler has already made him a good coach to me.
Please try to stay on topic in the GARM, this is not about me, it is about McHale and whether anyone believes hiring him was a mistake. SHEESH ! DD
He's gonna play his worse PG more minutes than his better PG? He's gonna move Kevin Love out of the paint?
Dude, its been a freaking month. Let's evaluate after the season. So funny ...people just can't wait to say I told you so.
Well you can also argue that Dalembert playing great has a lot to do with Mchale. If you will look at our first few games Dalember had a great first game then started getting dumber and dumber until the light bulb went on a few games ago. Knowing Adelman and his distate for shall we say Low B-Ball IQ people I wouldn't be surprised if Dalembert had gotten perma-benched and stayed glued on the bench for half a season during his stinky play. Comparison between Mchale's Rox and Adelman's Rox: Positives: -All star Lowry -Dalembert playing great -No brooks, C-bud slump (cuz AB got traded and C-bud got benched) Negatives: -KMart and Scola playing badly -No hayes -brutal opening schedule Its pretty much dead even IMHO, technically Mchale has stronger talent but then again he had to work in a lot of new guys, RA already installed his offense and Kmart, Hayes and Scola were ready to go last year. I think the team is performing more to their potential this year, mainly because Mchale gets on their ass when they become unfocused on D. Last year the team didn't have a lot of discipline or focus, which is why we would be some strong team than lose to the Raps, or have these goddawful plays out of timeouts.
You can also argue that Scola and Martin playing worse has to do with McHale. I think you are downplaying the Lowry factor a LOT. He was arguably the most important player for the 09-10 season. Him being injured to start off last season and then working off the rust for awhile was a huge blow. And the thing is, he’s a hugely improved player now than he was in 09-10 or November-January of last season. McHale has a star to run the show, Adelman did not have that player until the All-Star break. This is huge. I don't expect you to make a fair assessment, though, so whatever. Yes, I'm sure Adelman would have put Dalembert in the doghouse when he gave an idiot like Hill ample chances.
For a RA supporter you don't seem to get how Adelman operates. RA isn't dumb, its just that being old he prefers going to what works rather than taking the time to try new stuff. Hill was played because other than Hayes and the corpse of Miller we had no one left. RA's familiarity formula: PG Spot: Brooks over Dragic,T-will SG Spot: Brooks over Lee, T-will SF Spot: Cbud over Lee, T-will PF Spot: Hill over PP C Spot: Hill, Miller over PP, Thabeet With Dalembert, it'll all depend if he knocks RA's socks off during his first few games. He played great the first game, so that's good for his PT hte next few games. The next 5 games though when he starts playing like trash, I think RA would have benched him and played Hill and Hayes majority of the time. Anyway I don't agree at all Scola and Kmart playing bad has to do with Mchale. Scola's age might be catching up to him, and he doesn't take rests in the offseason. Kmart just got his feelings hurt in the trade, and the last few games he's been playing well. He's also playing good D, somethign he didn't do last year.
Who had a great year, and was the star of that team, a year on par with what Lowry is doing now in terms of production for the team overall. DD
So you think Lowry with his 23+ PER right now was playing at the same level the entirety of last season. Interesting.
Actually, the team was a net negative that year with Brooks on the floor without Lowry out there too.. The only reason we were competitive was Lowry's play off the bench.
They aren't on par, Lowry had about the same PER as Brooks when he came off the bench that same year. His per was higher than Brooks last year, and this year it's not even close. Lowry has been far far more productive than Brooks, on both ends of the floor, and that's only the offensive side of production. PER doesn't really account for defense, and Lowry has been huge.
So that is your entire argument that PER say so? I mean you could say....ok, Lowry scores 16ppg and gets 8 assists for roughly another 16 points making him responsible for 32 points a game. Whereas Brooks scored 19 points a game and got 6 assists for 12 points making him responsible for about 31 points a game all while dragging Battier, Ariza and Hayes around on offense. See, there is no winning this argument, it all depends upon perspective and what people value as a determining factor. DD
My entire argument does not hinge on PER. Like I just said, PER does not really take into account defense. It's one of PER's major flaws. I'm saying that despite the fact that Lowry has had a much higher PER than Brooks, it still doesn't take into the defensive side of it. That means the margin and gap between the two players' abilities is much bigger than even advanced stats could show. And this is the problem, why are you using basic boxscore stats to refute my argument? Boxscore stats tell you nothing about a players' true ability. Also as mentioned earlier, there is an available stat that takes into account the rest of the team. ashishduh conveniently posted the result for you just a few post above.
Sorry, I disagree with putting value in that stat as well, too much is dependent upon the other 4 guys you get to share time with on the floor, and IIRC the majority of the year it was: Brooks, Ariza, Battier, Hayes and Scola - man that is not a very offensively oriented group. DD
And Lowry played with players that were defensively challenged and had problems rebounding. Such amazing players as Chase Budinger and David Andersen and even Jordan Hill for the next half of the season. According to you, no stat matter. Only eye ball test. But you were singing a different tune when Chase Budinger's defensive stat was used, and you were calling posters out for doing so.
