The Rockets underperformed their stats last year. They should have had several more wins. Also I think Rick had better personnel. No battier, no hayes, and both martin and scola have been much worse for McHale
Outside of the idiotic comment about it being "MY BOYS" which is not true, I am fine with McHale benching and the season averages will tell a lot. Agreed that it is too early thus I said let's see where it all washes out later. DD
Good point, we will have to compare inividual stats that played for both....Scola, Lowry, Kmart, Budinger, Hill, Lee for example, did they all get better or worse under McHale? DD
Yep, I enjoyed watching him play well under Adelman that doesn't make him my boy. Obtusity at it's finest. DD
McHale is starting off with a better team and situation than Adelman did last season. -Dalembert >> Hayes (as a center) -Parsons and Battier’s impact is a wash IMO -Lowry started off last season injured. -Brooks got injured 5 games into the season and Ish Smith was our starter until Lowry got back. -Lowry was playing badly for some time when he first came back from injury -And then of course the instability with Yao’s situation I find it sort of strange that some posters have decisively concluded that McHale > Adelman based on how the teams started off their respective seasons. Adelman had to face a lot more setbacks, and McHale has inherited an All-Star level Lowry off the bat. Lowry was not playing anything close to this level until this past February.
I dont see how Parsons the rookie can be a wash with Battier the veteran. McHale has also had the Lee and PatPat injuries to deal with. The Bert didnt start off strong and both Hill and Bud got big minutes early and sucked. The biggest thing to me still is how poorly Scola and KMart have played yet the team is still winning.
Best defensive starting unit in the league. http://basketballvalue.com/topunits.php?year=2011-2012&sortnumber=9&sortorder=ASC
And if they go for 2 immediately, that's another reason to have Martin on the floor. You then have the option to call a timeout or quickly inbounds to a 95% FT shooter. In fact, what you do if they go for a quick 2 is try to inbounds to Martin and if you can't you have 5 seconds to call a timeout. Whenever you can, you want a 95% FT shooter on the court when the opposing team has to foul.
i don't see McHale as a long term solution so i really don't care right now. but it will matter once we're on the brink of becoming real contenders.
