Stay put and waite for Chris Paul and Mellow to want out at the trade deadline. Sign Brad Miller and lets go to war with what we got until the right moment opens up. Then strike without announcing it to the rest of the league like with Bosh. Carmelow and Chris Paul will be put up for sale later this year probably or someone else we dont know about yet. None of these teams who made all these moves this year have the trade assets anymore after waisting their load on everything and not having enough to match us anyways. So we already know that. We go into the season wit the upper hand if any marquee name shows up then snatch them up if its a good deal. If not? Most of these teams waisted their cap space or will. We waite till Yaos contract expires and assesss the value of the knicks picks and go from there. Alot of things can happen fasterthan getting Bosh and Yao togteher for a Championship something else could get us there faster perhaps with what we have.
My original thinking when they drafted Daniel Orton was that they needed a cheaper player to back up Howard. Paying the MLE for someone who only plays 13 minutes a night is ridiculous. As long as Howard is there, those minutes cannot go up. Orlando desperately needs to dump salary. There is no way to do that this offseason, but trading for someone like Jeffries or Battier would save them $7M+ next year. The idea of pursuing Gortat was based on these things: A) Daryl Morey's original interest in him B) Orlando matched offers because they know he has value, but they can't provide minutes to justify the price C) The Magic drafting Daniel Orton D) The Magic's desperate need to move salary At this point it appears that Orton may need a little more experience before he is ready to take over. If there is a better legit center, I'm all ears, but I will not fault Gortat for not being able to get playing time ahead of Dwight Howard. That's hardly the same as not being able to crack the Wizards rotation or some other scrub team.
Jefferson is easily the most talented player being discussed as on the trading block and we have the pieces to get him in my mind. I think Morey would covet him and his type of play (obviously we don't know that though)....I mean his numbers have always been solid and at times there isn't a player who can put up the combo of points, rebounds, and blocks that he can. All while playing with a big body that is willing to defend and bang down low with a good mid-range shot (not just garbage buckets from his gaudy rebound totals. He is a great complement to Yao. I think Morey is just trying to get a good deal.
Shaq would make a great backup center in my opinion. hes old and less dominant, BUT he can still guard the paint area and still has good games where he scores and rebounds well. Plus as backup, theres no foul trouble worries, plus hell be easy to land now. Not to mention the publicity we'd get because of this. YAO and SHAQ, just imagine!!!
Don't go for Al Jefferson unless Rubio is attached. Jefferson is not a real star, but rather like a souped up Nene. He's good, but watching the games you can tell he's just not that amazingly talented.
If Bosh goes to Miami as a FA (And not through S&T) and then Lebron decides to sign with Miami (and not through S&T) then the Heat will need to trade Beasley. So most likely Miami will be trading Beasley for cheap. I think Rockets should hop on that. Great player just needs some coaching. Can play inside and out. Also, we should look to sign Ronnie Brewer. Good back up SG to Kevin Martin. Could make Battier or Ariza tradeable.... I still like where we are right now. If Yao is healthy then no doubt in my mind we can compete. Yao/Hayes/A.Johnson Scola/Hill/Patterson Ariza/Battier/Harris Martin/Budinger/Taylor Brooks/Lowry/Conroy?
You're comparing an offensive beast who plays matador defense with a tough defensive minded player who has offensive limitations.
He has all of the moves in his repertoire. He could be a Kevin Martin type of coup ..a borderline all-star stuck on a bad team. The knee injuries are a concern though. Seems like he would be a perfect fit
I like Scola but we can't use that contract excuse anymore of Scola being a bargain player. Lets be real here, Scola will easily get $9-$10 million judging the way the market has been thus far. David Lee will likely get a contract worth somewhere between $11-$14. Scola is a great hustle player and more polished than Lee but I don't see why we shouldn't pay the extra 3 or 4 million to get the clear-cut better and younger player in David Lee. Can you imagine Lee hauling rebounds alongside a 7'6 center? Yikes. And I also think we need a young guy that can be a core player for us in case our 'win now' mode doesn't work out.
Now there is chatter of David Lee for Anthony Randolph if Lebron passes on New York. Could this get any worse for us?
If there's still anyone out there who doesn't think Brooks and Ariza can uncork some beautiful passes, watch this video as Scola makes allegedly decent Lopez his b****. I had this game on my DVR for months and was ticked off when it accidently got erased. Who cares if it's New Jersey?
lol. yeah guys that put up over 20 points and 11 rebs for 3 years aren't stars because he isn't a super athlete. i don't care if he spent time in those 3 years hurt or not....you are star in the league if you put up those numbers and then still throw up 17 and 10 on one leg. ****ing ridiculous. please don't start up your own scouting service.
