Yao is a star. Not a superstar, but a star. Martin, Brooks, scola, are a lot more than players. You're seriously underrating this team. We have 4 guys in our starting lineup that could average 20 + as the top 1 or two options on a team. The 4th qrt go to guy is overrated. If you have a good balanced offense you'll be able to get off quality shots in those situations. The suns didnt depend solely on Nash or amare as go to guys.
That post was directed to the thread started by wonderboy2313. I guess it got moved here while I was typing.
i like the Brad Miller as a back up idea. I think we need a good wing player also, i think Josh Childress would work here. or trade for someone like Josh Smith or Gerald Wallace.
IF we can get Melo, we can compete with the Lakers and Heat straight up. We would have weapons at every position plus a solid bench unless we give up the farm. PG- Brooks/Lowry SG - Martin/Chase/Taylor SF - Melo/Ariza/Chase PF - Scola/Hill/Hayes/Patterson C - Yao/Hill Assumption - Battier, Jefferies, Anderson, draft picks will not be available.
I hate Melo but I do agree with this. We could also use David Lee, we need a rebounding machine. At this point I'm kind of at a loss for what we need. I do know that Martin should be better next year and if we can keep our guys together then I think we will compete just fine, especially if Yao comes back healthy. So many what ifs for us this season, nothing new unfortunately.
I hate to humor the Melo chasers, but Ariza, Yao, Hayes, Patterson and Hill can play defense. Maybe you were just talking about the back court.
No particular order: Matt Barnes. (Solid back up three who can shoot and defend; hustler) Jarvis Hayes. (Underrated all-around player) Brad Miller. (Perfect fit) Tyson Chandler for the right price.
Same way how Artest helped us compete? No thanks. Plus, Carmelo has an expiring contract should he opt out after this upcoming season. Rockets need a stud, not a thug. I vote for Danny Granger.
I hope Morey has a powerplay up his sleeve People are going to flame me over this, but fact of the matter is, Heat are in position to win multiple championships for the next 5 years, and its not going to be even close. They're a couple of notches above the Lakers now. I hope Morey can somehow draw CP3 and Carmello, since these two are likely to be moved whether its through FA or trade. CP3 is not satisfied in New Orleans, their management is incapable of putting together a winning team around him. Carmello has had some decent talent to play with but hes only been out of the first round once and believe me, he's fed up. His fiance Lala was on New York radio not too long ago saying Carmello was seriously considering signing with NY once his contract is up. Bottom line is, we need a powerplay in order to keep up. Winning championships take superstars, and sadly we don't have any. I like our team, and I love our youth, but its time to make a big splash
CP3 and Carmelo wearing rockets red is a pipe dream. I don't see any superstar wanting to play in Houston in the foreseeable future. We can't compete with the big market cities when it comes to drawing superstar talent. We have to work with what we have and continue to improve as a team. Hopefully with Yao healthy we can get back into the playoffs.
I don't understand why so many clutchfans are into Melo. Why why why??!?!? Let's say Daryl does his wizard magic and gets Melo on this team sometime before or at the trade deadline. 2010-11 season ends, Melo opts out of his contract to test the free agency. You don't think he'd do that? Let's say that the New York Knicks clear some roster space AGAIN and make a ridiculous pitch to Melo. Then what? Rockets match it? And what about Aaron Brooks and Yao? They'll both be free agents too. And we all know how Les is about the Salary Tax. Danny Granger on the other hand has a decent contract from $10 to $14 mil a year and won't be a free agent until the 2014-15 season. It's a no brainer. Vote for Granger.
