Paula Abdul. I miss her incoherent ramblings and odd behavior. Her being gone is the main reason I didn't watch this season at all.

Or, for the same effect, I guess you could bring in Sarah Palin.....

EDIT: Or how about David Lee Roth??

I don't think its necessary they have to know about singing. Knowledge of the music business itself helps. But they need somebody to "keep it real" like Simon did. Successful music entrepreneurs like Sean Combs and Russel Simmons are more than qualified to be a talent show judge. Also musicians who made it big like Bret Michaels or Snoop Dog are qualified too because they've been in the light.

I'd like to see Jamie Foxx. But they're going to need a negative (truth-telling) personality on the show, and none of the other 3 can do that. So maybe Bret Michaels is a better call

Rumor has it that they will try to bring in Madonna. I think that would skyrocket ratings for the first 2-3 shows. But if she is kinda wishy-washy with her comments like all the other judges.. it's gonna tank eventually.

Get that guy who hosted with Ryan in season 1, he is probably pretty bitter by now.

combs would be awful as a permanent host. he doesn't have enough wit or intellect, and takes himself too seriously. nobody gives a crap about russell simmons, nor do they give a crap about david foster. bret michaels is hot at the moment, his personality doesn't seem like it would be a good permanent fit though.

snoop would actually be a great choice (can't imagine he'd want to do it for more than a couple years though). he'd be funny and insightful and unique. i remember when the jimmy kimmel show first started and they were experimenting with a new guest celeb host for each week. snoop was the first one and he was phenomenal.

i think the key is somebody who is entertaining with the ability to provide legit insight (ellen degeneres only fits half that bill, which is why she is worthless as a judge). of the OP's list, connick and snoop would be the only 2 good choices, imo.

Agreed. He had a show on MTV a few years ago where he was auditioning musicians for his band (which I only watched because there were some really good drummers). Every time he came into the room, they would show him in super slow-mo and play one of his songs. They would make such a production of him WALKING INTO A ROOM. It was so silly and transparent. You know he's the one who insisted on that.

He makes Donald Trump seem as humble as Hakeem Olajuwon.
