It's nothing really like China/Yao (he was their first superstar in the US) and he'll most likely deserve it until he doesn't. Just like Ichiro (look at his AS picks vs his career in MLB), who was a god in Japan before he came here. Ohtani is insanely popular in the US because MLB markets the hell out of him, and he's uniquely fun as hell to watch. Oh, and he kinda won the MVP last year.
In terms of having entire country outside the US behind you was my point. Yea to your point Ichiro played nearly 20 years in MLB and was voted in 10 times so at "some point" interest wanes.
Deserved to be an AS his first 10 years, then when he had a massive drop in production...no more ASG Also, nobody in baseball has ever historically differentiated between All Star and All Star-Starter. When they talk about HOF and stuff, it's just "x time All Star", as everyone has always taken into account the often silliness of fan voting, and MLB has tweaked the voting rules a couple of times to lessen that effect. So who cares? It is what it is.
Polar opposites. I’ve seen or heard this a few times lately and I don’t get it. Both lefties sure but the comparison ends there.
I don't even think they need to attend the game. Just get the sniffles. Let the ghosts of Dodger past play. They just need a new entry point since they don't have corn fields handy.
I would mostly agree, except it’s a pretty large snub for him to not start. He’s the best hitter in the AL, by a mile rn. To be clear, I don’t want any of them to play anyway, and I’m hoping this just pisses Yordan off.
My god. just looked at his stat line. He's at 4.0 fWAR in 74 games. He's on pace for 8 fWAR as a DH/LF. Unreal.
Astros Fandom needs to do a better job at campaigning for their stars. I know some of you are mad about Yordan not being in it but again its a popularity contest. You gotta vote out in droves.
