I think the most logical move is Giles, since he's been flat out dominant lately. He's at least earned the first shot as the closer. And reading that tweet, the fact that Gregerson isn't available for a while, makes Giles' audition as full time closer make even more logistical sense. If he doesn't run with this opportunity, I give it back to Gregerson.
Paternity list is only 3 days, and he will be going on it at some point. Going on it today would be best for the team, since he wouldn't miss a start and the team could get an extra player when they are hurting. Musgrove will probably be in the pen, given they had to use Devenski for an extended outing, traded Feldman, and used Feliz, leaving Musgrove as the long man tonight. I agree that Fiers would be the odd man out of the rotation for me, despite his most recent start being excellent.
I know that bullpen need a routine but I say let's invent something in the name of analytics. alternate them every week even dev would get a chance to close.
I don't know how the paternity list works, but surely Fister would have a say? Surely they can't just put him on it because it is convenient for the club, it needs to be convenient to the player, no?
Yes, Fister makes the decision. Unless they induce, we won't know when he will go, but now would work out great.
ABH.....Anyone But Harris. Honestly though, it's gotta be Giles. The guy has the look and feel of a closer, and it seems like getting the job now might actually bolster his confidence.
It's hilarious (and predictable) the biggest arguers of my previous 9th inning statements neither comment nor vote in this thread. Entertaining watching ClutchFans happen
