I am sorry, if Tmac is not playing well, he should be riding the pine...same for anyone on the team. If they are not giving effort, or chucking, or slowing down the offense. Grab some pine bub ! DD
T-Mac I would start T-Mac next to Battier and bring Artest off the bench trying everything possible to keep T-Mac and Artest off of the same unit. T-Mac, regardless of how he shoots, has enough court presence to warrant doubles and at times play decoy. Add to that his playmaking and the fact he's a better overall player, it makes sense for him to play more minutes between him and Artest. I would 'demote' Artest to about 25 MPG depending upon how he's playing. Leave T-Mac at 30-35 MPG which leaves roughly 20 MPG for Wafer. That's about right, if you ask me. That rotation leaves minutes for all three as well as Battier.
RA is 99% not gonna start Wafer over Tmac. Wafer should be, but he wont. End of story. No coach is gonna start a new player in the team over a $20M man, unless the new player is named James or Bryant.
And what do you do with Brent Barry, then? Popovich would, you know why? Because he is a great coach. DD
at this point as much as im a tmac fan, von its what we need to win right now until tmac settel in.But i think tmac its working to fit the system
Somebody is always hurt. He's sort of the utility guy given his versatility and ability to play three positions, I guess. Plus, even when healthy there will be times when Yao is so hot he receives the automatic double. In situations like that he'll find more minutes. Otherwise, I think it should be the T-Mac/Battier, Artest/Wafer show at the wings. Just my opinion.
I also want to add that those stats are a little misleading... Wafers stats sky rocketed once he became a starter. He hits 50% field goal percentage, scores about 16 a game, forces defenses to guard him even when he does not have the ball and the offensive does not stop once the ball is in his hands. Oh...and he passes the eyeball test. Watch TMac and then watch Wafer and there really is no comparison who is more efficient and who is a much better team player. I agree with you 100%.
As long as they both get minutes, it doens't realy matter to me. SO I wouls start McGrady, so we avoid more ego problems.
Yea RA needs to find a way to get them two on the same page. We got Ron so we would be better as a team, but things can't go well when two of your best players cant play together and be on the floor at the same time.
DD, tracy didn't dominate like a great player should last night. well, he's just not great right now. and yes, wafer should get more minutes. but i think you and people are being highly critical of tracy in terms of how improved he is from the rest. he went to the paint more frequently than this entire year v. the knicks. tried to dunk in traffic. blew by chandler quite a few times (including several nice dishes to scola due to that penetration). but yet strangely, he could beat jeffries/chandler off the dribble but not david lee? he still is not fully there. but after seeing last night's game, i don't see how anyone is not encouraged. with more games, he'll be back (not vintage form but still elite).
As of now, I would prefer to see Von Wafer starting. Everything just seems to flow much better when he is out there, and we're actually seeing lay-ups and jumpers going inside. But, I don't think that'll happen. McGrady will probably want to start, and I doubt Adelman will stand up and say "You're benched."
They all have their own merit. Tmac is alot better at getting Yao the deep post pass. If you watch the few games before Tmac shutting his knee, he had many good assist with Yao almost next to the rim. Wafer is better at hitting 3s that Yao passes out of double team and he is willing attacker. My choice still goes to Wafer. He is better fit to the aldeman system.
Sometimes coaches fit the rosters better than others, right now, I am on the fence about Adelman...he would be great with a team that had dedicated superstar players...but out of 3, he has one. So, I am not sure he is the right coach yet...gonna give him the same time I gave JVG..about 3 years. DD
