Parcells doesn't have an infatuation with former baseball players....Jerry Jones does. (Ex: Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson)
Romo will play a majority of the snaps the last 2 weeks, with hdenson also playing closer to a full game. Vinny gets a bonus if he plays 85% of the offensive snaps (he already achieved his one bonus for playing 50%), and henson gets a bonus (plus gets his deal reduced from 7 years to 4) if he plays 15% of the snaps this year. So basically it seems like Vinny can roughly play 13.5 of the 16 games and henson can play 2.5 of the 16 games. Vinny is right at 13 now so he won't play much. Henson will play a full game, but I woudl anticipate them looking at Romo this weekend, then Henson the next.
Gotta find out about Henson sooner or later, Rodgers is pretty much it in this draft - and they did give up a third rounder for Henson. Gotta figure out if he's worthless or not before throwing a first rounder after a third.
It may be Drew Brees. It will be an interesting hand of poker to watch. Will the Bolts put the franchise tag on Brees, guaranteeing that they or somebody must pay him $10million for 05, so they don't lose him without getting anything for him? And if they do, will that make his contract too rich for the teams that might be in a position to want him? I don't think the Packers would pay $10 million for him to sit on the bench waiting on Farvre to retire. I'm not even sure the Cowboys would pay him $10 million and if they did they probably wouldn't give up much in a trade for his rights. Maybe a PR move like Larry Allen and his bloated deal.
Brees could be a good option but the Bolts are probably gonna franchise tag him. If they do, I wonder what happens to Phillip Rivers?
You would have to live through that scenario to understand it. Suffice to say the loss of the Oilers and a move to D/FW from Houston is at the heart of it. I would have continued to support Houston NFL if the Oilers hadn't left but, they did, and I had to move on. Screw rooting for Tennessee or being a man without a team. The Rockets never lost my support because they never left town and I grew up watching that team as I did the Oilers.
i know parcells has talked about winning this year but if Henson was really going to be the Man for the future he surely would have got more time this year
Parcells never likes playing for the future...he likes winning and doesn't wanna gamble. He's afraid of throwing him (Henson) in there and him having a bad game and never recovering. But I guess the question is that when will Henson ever get some experience that he needs? In Europe? Look at Chad Hutchinson and Tommy Maddox for that. Well I guess Maddox was different cause he did have NFL experience prior. But I guess we will see what happens by the end of the season. But I definitely don't see any good prospects in the Draft.
Don't know if this was mentioned but I thought the Cowboys had quite a bit of money under the cap and were going to look at Drew Brees?
Brees would be a good option but like what was said earlier.....the Chargers may franchise tag him and he may be untouchable or be too expensive. He should be considered though.
if the Chargers re-sign Brees and continue to start him, what happens to Rivers??? would they consider trading him
Maybe it's just me but I'm not crazy about Brees. Guys who have acareer year in their contract year always scare me. You're paying top dollar for a guy who has had one good year. Brees may turn out to be a great QB, but I'd shy away from giving him too big of deal over too long of term (meaning big signing bonus) if I was JJ.
