Where's the none of the above choice? I wouldn't want any of those clowns to replace JVG. If JVG leaves or is forced to leave then he should be replaced with a player's coach. Bring back Rudy, or if not Rudy I think Kenny Smith or Mario Elie would be ideal candidates. Other than that I'm really not impressed with who else is out there...
Del Harris...he's got the Mavs playbook in his head, and he's already used to communicating with Yao...Perfect!!
I am ashamed of this bandwagon forum. When JVG was doing well at the end of last season everyone was happy. Then we had a slow start(with several key injuries) and the fire JVG chants came back. Sure enough, this phenomon is back in full swing, but with even more injuries. Why don't this bandwagon rocket fans just leave the forum? If we had a healthy team and were losing you may have a case, but to constantly ask questions about his coaching style, yet have never been in a meeting only shows your ignorance. JVG has more coaching/basketball knowledge than every person on this board. Give the guy the break that he deserves and stop trying to use conspiricy theories to support your biases. A have been a rockets fan for over 25 years. I have supported them through thick and thin. I wish the members of this great site would do the same thing and display some trust. We are lucky enough to have 2 superstars and great management staff, but that is not enough. What would have happened if UT canned Mack Brown, because he did not listen to all the armchair quarterbacks? Grow up and enjoy the opportunity that we have been witnessing or choose to be the typical pessimistic bandwagon board member. I, for one, are choosing to enjoy watching Yao break out and will happily wait for the day to enjoy a healthy JVG team. Loyalty is a word everyone of us needs to look up and remember why it is important.
NONE OF THE ABOVE. I would've liked to have seen the results if that were an option. I'd rather have a few coaches (Carlisle, Phil Jackson) over JVG coaching the Rockets but they aren't available. We've obviously had a bad year, but none of those coaches is an upgrade aside from possibly Adelman. I'm not convinced Adelman will be available anyways.
I still support Van gundy -give him a chance with a healthy team and a couple of consistent role players to help. But - per JAmesC: "I've said it before but I want John Lucas, then bring Mario Elie, Moses Malone and whoever else to be assistant coaches." I really like these old Rockets and what they could bring. __________________
As the thread starter i just want to make a few things clear. a) I didn't create the poll, i was simply pasting a marty burns article about available coaches which someone here turned into a poll. b) I am not a bandwagon fan, this is the first season i've been able to watch rockets games with Bittorrent and i really don't like JVG's coaching style-so i am open to another coach. c) JVG definately deserves another chance with a healthy roster. None of this is his fault. d) Never been a bandwagoner in my life-they are the worst type of fan.
I was the person who created this poll. I didn't notice dream2franchise's post before. So Clutch merged the two threads into one. I was just curious who people think can replace JVG. As to JVG, I don't like the way he coach. He just put too much restriction on players. He is more suitable to a team full of average players who can play D like his old Knicks. But since the rule changes, playing D isn't going to be as effective as before. We need a better offensive mind to coup with the rule changes. Having said that, I think it is fair to give him one more year. But then if a better coach happens to be available, it is ok to fire him before next season. NBA is just like a business. Even a coach like Rick Carlisle was fired for "better" coach.
