John Wall is the best player nobody talks about, rightfully so because he play's with the Wiz (and he's injured). He has this year and 1 more year after. The chances of him signing back are pretty low. So the we make a package for Lin and some youth for John Wall at a great price. If you've ever seen the way he plays, you'll know he'll fit right in and be a star.
This is what I dream would happen. Lakers get their act together only to fall apart in the playoffs, Kobe gets frustrated and calls out his teammates. Dwight leaves to sign with the Rockets, making Omer very valuable trade asset. Asik + Parsons for Klove (throws in fillers and what not) Profit
Wall is not a huge improvement over lin... 1. he does not play that much better defense than lin... 2. he also does not have a jumpshot... 3. he is coming of a very very serious injury that very few players comes back the same ever again... so why are we trading lin + other youths for this guy? he will prolly cost more than lin as well...
I would prefer a SG + PF/C combo to a back court combo. For the current salary space, the Rox can only get a star via trade.
Our glaring weakness is that we don't have a consistent low-post threat. Greg Smith is looking great in the limited minutes he's receiving, but he won't make us a contender. Of course players like LMA, Griffin, Duncan are exceptionally rare commodities in this league so until such an opportunity to acquire a star forward arises, Morey will likely continue panning for gold, buying low, selling high, growing assets and waiting to become predatory on such an opportunity. Though as we are presently constructed our team is looking quite impressive with a franchise superstar guard under contract for six years surrounded by highly productive players on great contracts. We have time on our side with all the upside of our rostered players and their current productivity this season.
Greg Oden is sitting out this year, but he could possibly be back next year. Upside is huge, investment is minimal.
The player I want to see is Batum. I think Batum for Parsons, first round picks and cash could pry him from Rip city. Everytime I see him play he looks like he has superstar potential. However, if Parsons can be kept in such a deal. The lineup of Lin, Harden, Batum, Parsons and Asik would be crazy!
First of all, this is a great thread, with some great discussion. I believe that Daryl Morey runs the risk of getting too fond of his own young players. If I was the GM, I would have the most impossible time putting Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons and hell, even Marcus Morris and Greg Smith, in trades. I hope Dork Elvis remains the same cut and dry, logical GM that stays absurdly aggressive in his attempt to build a championship roster. It is one thing to be aggressive when you have nothing, but can he maintain those tactics that got him this far, WITH James Harden on the roster? The clock is ticking on putting some real studs around James, before it is too late. There is a lot of pressure. Yeah, lot of pressure. You gotta rise above it. You gotta harness in the good energy, block out the bad. Harness. Energy. Block. Bad. Feel the flow, Clutchfans. Feel it. It’s circular. It’s like a carousel. You pay the quarter, you get on the horse. It goes up and down and around. Circular. Circle. With the music. The flow… all good things I think Dallas shows us a way. Forgive me for writing this comparison, it is more for myself than anyone else. In order of PER (PER sucks, but this is just for fun). 1. Dirk Nowitzki/James Harden 2. Tyson Chandler/Omer Asik 3. Shawn Marion/Chandler Parsons 4. Jason Terry/Jeremy Lin 5. J.J. Barea 6. Jason Kidd I don't see any reason that our guys, with the proper development, could not become as good as their Dallas counterparts. Ideally we throw Kevin Love out there too and become a dynasty instead of a one ring wonder...
People still believe in John Wall? The guy has no jump shot and has no desire to improve in that aspect. He is just an athletic freak. He is also injury prone. Anyways, I think Lin will develop into a legitimate all-star in this league next year, but I suppose it would be nice to have a big 3 instead of just a big 2.
Ryan Anderson is not making star money. The potential salary cap money next year would allow the Rockets to sign another play for the max, but that's also dependent on how much money the player in question is willing to take. It's more about the free agents available that can sign, with the rest who are currently signed or looking for more money that a trade would be needed.
Several teams would go after Anderson, assuming he was made available. For sure they ask for Parsons and a draft pick, but Hornets probably won't make any significant moves until the off-season and I don't think adding Morris/Patterson seals the deal. Batum would be another great pickup, especially if his agent and him try to get him out, but again all these teams will probably look at what assets they can get before letting go of their talent. I think the Rockets will first try to go after any disgruntled players via trade - Howard, Love, Batum or Aldrdige, etc before they try to use the max via free agency.
