Love would be perfect, but he's un-gettable. A four who shoots the 3 and maybe defends, that'd be the way to go.
Very realistic way to have a player with a big potential, and we're not obliged to wait until next year. We can make a big offer yet to the Jazz. Aldridge or Love seems impossible. Josh Smith very doubtful. Favors has the potential to become an all star and he is already better than Patterson or Morris, and much more than Motiejunas or Jones. With Derrick Williams, Favors is the only player with star potential we could grab at PF.
A dream scenario would be what larsv8 proposed. Max money, but only on a two year deal. Of course, Smith will have much better offers on the table.
In 2013, the big FAs are howard, cp3 and bynum. In 2014, u have old stars like kobe, dirk, pau, iggy.
Right now its hard to predict who's the next star for this team. But whoever it is, I think Morey would take a close hard look at that player to pair him up with Harden and Lin. But we'll see later down the road. Maybe it can be a star that the Rockets drafted or someone in the upcoming draft. Right now, its still early and Lin and Harden are still very young...
I prefer to stick to our young players and have our home grown star. Rockets has been trying get a star here and there but it always end up with a big failure majority of the time.
While I don't necessarily agree with Horford, I think something along those lines are what lead to our next star. Whoever Morey decides to sign in the offseason, you can be sure that it will be to a contract that will be easy to move later on. I have to believe that Kevin Love would be the ultimate target. So the Rockets need to have someone who can come close to filling his shoes on the court as well as come close to matching his salary without being an albatross. That player, along with young players, filler and picks would help facilitate the deal. In other words, I don't think a player like Horford, Smith or Millsap puts them into the elite category, but I don't think we should see the signing of such a player as Morey's endgame. A team is not going to give up a player like Love for Patterson, Parsons, Morris and picks. The Rockets need to be able to send a bona fide player back in addition to the picks.
What do you guys think about Ryan Anderson from New Orleans? a 6'10 stretch 4 putting up 17 and 7 off the bench with 40% shooting from three. He's only 24!
