It should have because it's an idiotic statement. Every player in the NBA is highly skilled and for Jalen to have won 5 or 6 games this yr by himself, it should have blown your mind. Think about it! Every yr only 60 players get drafted out of millions of players who play basketball and out of those 60, only about 20 players stay in the league, if that many. So for this IDIOT to make that statement.....IT'S TRULY MIND BLOWING
I have asked this very question unironically to Jalen only fans here and they never answer the question. Instead insults and he is only 22, bro. We all want to see Jalen excel as, at least, the majority of us áre Rockets fans first. The truth is most nights Jalen is not a NBA caliber player. He is a net negative. It is insane how much development and reps the Rockets have invested in Jalen for him to only make marginal improvements and in other aspects like shooting and scoring even regressing. Rockets compounded this with the ridiculous contract extensión. It's been discussed before, but why not give Cam, at least, a portion of Jalen's reps? Jalen has been ass for four years yet Cam has such a short leash that he gets sent to the G league after only a handful of games and short stints of play of poor shooting and tunnel vision. It's not like Jalen is helping us win. There is huge upside on seeing what we have in Cam for this year and going forward. If Cam was a top pick and didnt drop in the draft, would he be getting development time? Make it make sense.
I just factually quoted stats without offering an opinion... I guess Mobley making an all defense team this year hasn't happened yet but he easily would if the season ended today.
The real answer is that Jalen is incredibly above average at creating his shot. Now one may scoff at this notion given that he's a very inefficient shooter, but if you think about why guys like Amen and Reed can't just take 20 shots a game, it's because they are below average at shot creation. Put it another way, if Jalen can be average at everything else, like shooting, finishing, passing for a SG, etc., he'd actually be a similar version of a Bradley Beal. Which is a borderline max player.
Jalen's really not giving us enough assists either. He should be around 4-5 assists per game easily, he misses open teammates often. Way under-developed with kick-outs especially. Should be doing a better job at that. Should pass the ball more in general when the paint is packed.
Okay, I'd like to apologize. After much digging and analysis I found one thing. Jalen is an above average free-throw shooter.
So many ifs.. If he does this if he does that.. When? When he is 35 years old? 4 full years have passed. Every player in this team making leap, except Jalen. To be honest, Jalen is a terrible player for #2 draft investment player. I dont want him to start. Amen should take his place, he should be coming from bench like Clarkson type player...
To put it in perspective, Jalen is worse now than his rookie year in all of the following categories: AST/TO SC-EFF SH-EFF FG% 3PT% TS% That's after 4,015 field goal attempts, 1,793 three point shot attempts, and over 8,000 minutes on the court.
If you keep winning, Jalen should probably continue starting, but he's so inconsistent I don't know how any coach could be comfortable with him as a focal point of a team. He can't be "the" guy on a good team if you can't consistently rely on him. It's just that simple. Jalen can be a component on a good team, but his 33 percent shooting games are still way too common. If he doesn't find a way to become a more consistent player, he is going to end up coming off of the bench somewhere.
