People thought Green turned a corner before the last Spurs game and before the last Spurs game Green had a scoring efficiency of 54% ts which is his career scoring efficiency yet his advanced metrics were through the roof significantly higher than his career averages. So obviously scoring efficiency isn't why people were excited about in terms of the progress he's shown this year. How was it before the second Spurs game he was marching his career scoring efficiency but blew out his career averages in advanced analytics like BPM? Also Green his entire career so far enters the season averaging a low amount of points with low efficiency and bad advanced impact numbers. This is his first season where he's scoring high and impacting positively at a high end level. Currently Green's BPM is that of what Tatum had for the last three seasons as a top 6 MVP candidate. So if Green can simply maintain this level of defensive effort and offensive usage and efficiency hovering around 58% ts you are seeing the formation of a top 20 player this season. I want to see how Green adjusts to teams slowly phasing out drop coverages if he sustains around + 37% from three. Is that going to unlock a even further level of a rim attacking Green that will generate like 8 fta per night? Right now some of his rim attacking ability is lessened by that drop coverage which is giving him 10+ clean three point attempts per game. But teams will stop doing that if he keeps on shooting above 37%.

Before those 25 games Green is top 10 in league history in things like scoring average for all NBA players in league history before they turn 22 or top 10 in 30 pt games in league history before turning 22. Those stats don't show a consistent star. Those stats show a player with a high potential that just needs consistency to make a star leap. 19-22 year old talented scoring guards being inconsistent but still showing promise as a star level talent.... How crazy is that?
