i've defended anna plenty of times before. she is eddie griffin. plenty of potential, but not going to get there. I like how all these channels are saying, the next anna kournikova and she's good. You do not make it to number Seven in the WTA by being a pretty face. Just cause she is cute, and Russian and all...please. Anna has set the bar real high. Nobody will reach it.
Unbelievable game. I am impressed by the Williams' reaction, though. Fair congratulations both by the father and Serena. Some of the balls Sharapova played were incredible.
Here's a great quote from Maria in this weeks Sports Illustrated: "People seem to forget that Annna (Kournikova) isn't in the picture anymore. It's Maria time now."
I'm impressed... both by her game, and her personality. She's cute... and approachable... and she seems like she's got a killer instinct, yet she's graceful about it. "I hope we play in many more finals, but I'm sorry... I just had to beat you today."-- how to be both apologetic and hinting that "I just kicked your ass" at the same time.
Are you kidding??? Federer versus Roddick will be nuts! I take Federer over Roddick. Roger will exploit Roddick's backhand.
I am happy for Maria Shrapnova. I missed it, but I am sure NBC will replay it. And who ever said Men's Tennis is boring, well, it is. Womans tennis is way better than Mens tennis. Mens tennis is good, but it's just flat. There is no character. Back in the 70s, and 80s, you had McEnroe, and Borg. These two hated each other, but I am sure they had each other's respect, espcially on the court. They were two different people. These ATP players are like the Astros. No emotion, infact, more like Robots. On the other hand, these women have some characters. The Williams, Davenport, Henin Hardenne, Clijsters, they all hate each other, espicially those two belgiums, and the Williams. those two belgiums have the williams figured out. In Conclusion, Maria Shrapnova may have won a Grand Slam, but she is no Anna Kournikova. What she did to elevate womans tennis, and her self was more than Maria Shrapnova winning the Grand Slam. Anna forever.
I just listened to an interview of Maria on XM radio on one of the ESPN stations. She's so damn down-to-earth. She even said she hopes success doesn't go to her head and has asked others to hit her over the head if it does. Nice to see "good personalities" do well as opposed to stuck up vamps like Anna Kornonthecobba that do let "success" go to their head.
What's wrong with freckles? I sorta like 'em. I do think that LL is overrated, but not because of her freckles. Sharapova is Wonderful with a capital W.
