yeah you ought to have a lotta fun in the East Village. CBGB's, Continental and Bowery Ballroom have plenty to offer as far as music goes. take the 6 train to Astor place and walk down St. Marks Place.
I stayed there about a month or two ago. I paid about $100/night. The lobby is really nice but the room was terrible. It was old, small, and dirty.
Wow, Smeggles I could definately hop the train to NY I am with across from 110th though. October is so far away. Right now I am trying to get throught the week so I guess I will keep you posted. Maybe I should offer you the experience that is the Hamptons, but by October things are a little slow(er) out here, and its not really the experience you should have of the hamptons. Besides your only out for like 2 days. But if you were I would offer up some couch space. will there be a night out on the town? (rhetorical question) PEACE
VOR, wow, we must hook up, Almu is in you just crash in my room send me an email and we can make plans. Smeg
Hotels: Check out some online source....Rough Guides are good. Bands: Piano's: On the corner of stanton and ludlow good bands. seen some pretty heavy people there. Mercury Lounge: Big bands, tiny bar. Bowery Ballroom, Northsix (brooklyn)
ok, still looking for accommodation dates are 1st and 2nd of October, thought i found one in Chelsea Star, which looked neat and was only $59, but it is sold out. any other ideas??
WTC is not much to see other than a big destruction/construction site but other downtown things, like the S. Street Seaport, battery park, and wall street/federal hall/exchange place are worth a look if you're in the area. Jets/Giants tix are a b**** to get. Yankee playoff tix, if its not the world series, aren't that difficult to get if you call repeatedly. Good cheap lodging is going to be tough. Some of the nicer hotels way downtown in the financial district offer really cheap weekend/offseason rates. Well, cheap for new york at least. I think there's an embassy suites or sometihing down there, and also a Hilton and the Regent but those will probably kick your price range. There's a holiday inn on john street which can't be that expensive, also there's a quality or comfort inn downtown near the seaport too I think. You should also consider staying in Brooklyn Heights. You are only one subway stop away from Manhattan and it is considerably cheaper. I know there is a Marriot down there but there may be more.
