I'm kinda interested to know what happened there.. chill out Veangance is mine said the Lord but you'll never see your revenge through, he's a millionaire, and you won't see him packing anyone's groceries. I know real thugs all throughout the bloody nickel to Acres Homes and he isn't one. That "thug" label for bball players is really aggravating. It should only be used on those who really are thugs like Stephen Jackson who is known for selling crack in Port Authur.
I can' believe we just gave up another Rudy Gay !!!!!!!!!!! This young kid is gonna turn into another Tmac soon enough if he gets playtime...
i think you meant [sarcasm]I can' believe we just gave up another Rudy Gay !!!!!!!!!!! This young kid is gonna turn into another Tmac soon enough if he gets playtime...[/sarcasm]
Well since we released him, he can play in the D-League. Hopefully the Rockets told him to play in the D-League for the rest of the year while they'll negotiate a contract for him this summer.
i haven't kept up on how these rules work, but couldn't we just have sent him to the D league? why did we have to waive him? now that we waived him can he even play for our D league team?
Well I heard that he's been in the league too long to be ASSIGNED to the D-League by us. Meaning he can't be on our roster and play for our D-League team at the same time. However, if he's not on anyone's roster, he can play for the D-League if he wants to. But he might just sign with another team.
Uhhh for those saying Green should've went to college and gotten a degree. I'm pretty sure he has made enough money in the NBA that he will be able to get into college and get a degree if he ever wants to. It's not like if you don't go to college straight out of high school you can never go to college.
I have always felt that way. People say HS players should be required to go the NBA so they can get their degree. Well... Most would come out early anyways. Under the new rules a college player can play their first and second semester without ever attending class once during the 2nd semester (post x-mas). Because they are already eligible. So technically Beasley doesn't have to go to class or anything, he can just play basketball. His grades don't matter if he decides to go pro. This would destroy a GPA and make it difficult to return. In the NBA you get millions, more than enough to take care of college. AND live comfortably in college. Focus on school, not worry about working a job. You can get into any public school via 3.0 avg at a JUCO.
this argument can probably go somewhere else, but... Most people don't argue that they should go to college to get their degree, but instead to grow up both on and off the court. Instead they get a bunch of money and are around people (in most scenarios) that are many years older than them. Then get into trouble. There are always exceptions to the rule, but I can't see any detriment for a player to spend a couple years in college. They get a new level of competition, they are forced to live "on their own" in a somewhat controlled environment... plus they get a little more education before moving on to the big bad world. A college professor once said something that has stuck with me, "We (professors) aren't here to feed you knowledge, we're here to teach you how to find knowledge on your own." I have a feeling we aren't hearing the last of Green.
you're probably right, i'm in college and I know I have grown alot because of it but there is a reason why these kids want to make the jump. Many of these guys are doing this to provide for their families, some people can't relate to this but some of these kids come from situations where getting a better life for their families is priority 1 not growing as a person. Its the reason why you've seen guys try to go to the nba from hs and end up a 2nd round afterthought. I'd like to pose the question: Why force them to go to College? I know people who don't grow up in college and hang with the same crowd. It should be their and the people who drafts them's choice when they go.
I want him back, hopefully it is a wink wink deal where he goes down to the valley to play and comes back for about 2 million a year on a 3 year deal this summer. DD
Actually, I hope and want to believe that you are correct ... altho, projecting forward roster spots will be in very short supply for next season. Novak, Hayes, and Head are most likely to be marketed in my guesstimation.
I was hoping that wasn't the case but we all know that the racist population jumps a few million in front of a computer screen as opposed to our faces. Learn to disregard it and you'll save yourself some stress.
I like that they brought in Mike, but they should have waived the new center they just brought in. He was on the street and hadn't been picked up, I'm sure he wasn't going anywhere else for the next two weeks. We could have picked him back up when Landry was healthy. I look for Green to be picked up by someone that's going nowhere that can give him some playing time. Say like a Seatle.....
I can't help but think that if Novak hadn't hit that game winner, then he would be cut rather than Green. Anyways, I beleive he'll be back. He wasn't going to play this season, or in the playoffs. Why not just practice with the team? The only thing that makes me wonder is that, yeah, he won't cost more than the MLE, but couldn't we have not cut into the MLE AT ALL if we had preserved his bird rights? Not sure if I want to give him 2M out of the MLE next season, especially since we'll be looking for some solid bench pieces and a backup C.
