We have had a number of Hall of Fame big men on this team, but surprisingly few big time guards. If you just put his numbers up against any past Rocket guard, you can't keep him out of the top 3, and you could make an argument he's number 2. Hell, just looking at numbers, Cuttino maybe the 4th best of all time.

Sleepy Floyd doesn't go on your list, he was a legitimate all-star.

For my money, Lucas is the best PURE point guard to ever play for the Rockets. He made that "twin towers" team go.

    C-Dream
    PF- Moses
    SF-Rudy
    SG- Murph
    PG-Lucus

    Honorable mention-Worlld B Free, Allen Leavell :D

Voting by postition would leave out some of our best. It is also hard to pick just 5 players. I would list the Rockets in term of talents as:

    1) Hakeem, Moses.
    2) Hayes, Barkley, Drexler, Francis.
    3) Murphy, Rudy T., Sampson, Cassell.

Pippen, Rice, Barry should make the list except they play their best with someone else.
It's too soon to place Yao.

If there was a "All Shoot/No Pass" team, then World B. Free would be your guy. Loved him. He never met a shot he didn't like.

    Free made Maxwell look hesistant.

Lucas was suspended during the Twin Towers era. He played 47 games during the 85-86 finals year, and was out before the playoff push, and 65 games at the end of the next year. The following year he was gone and Sampson was traded.
He may have been the best pure point guard, but he did his best pure point guarding for other teams.

Cat over clyde is actually less rediculous than Yao/Thorpe over Mo Malone and Elvin Hayes. At least you could say Clyde was as much a SF as a 2 guard and that he cried like a whiny b**** when Barkley became option 1b with Hakeem.

    Oh and:

    1 - Murphy, Lucas, Francis
    2 - Clyde, Cat, Dunleavy
    3 - Barkley, Tomjonovich, Horry
    4 - Malone, Hayes, Sampson
    5 - Olajuwon, Yao, Curley ;)

no it isnt. Cuttino Mibley is nothing close to an all-star or a top 50 all time player... Its a huge crime.

Wait arnt you the same guy who says Cuttino Mobley is as good as Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady???

Cat has done far more than Yao at this point. Mo Malone and Elvin Hayes are way way better than Thorpe. You are obsessed with all-star appearences. Yao did not deserve to be an all star this season, it was all hype. He was pedestrian at best.

I am the person you are thinking of, but I never said that, no.

Well Clyde is defintely over Cat. The Rockets dont have the second championship w/o him. But whats the criteria for the rockets team. Is it what they did over the course of their career or only what they did with the rockets. Almost all of Clydes best years were in Portland. He was far from a top 50 player of all time for all or most of his rockets stay.If the criteria is what they did in their whole career is what we are judging by than Scottie Quitten should be on all of our lists.

I went ahead and did a 12-man roster...too many favorites. I took into account only how good they we're with the Rockets...Barkley and Pippen didn't make the cut. They extra points if they helped get us a championship.

    C - Hakeem & Mo Malone
PF - Big E Hayes & Otis Thorpe
    SF - Rudy T & Robert Reid
SG - Clyde Drexler & Calvin Murphy
PG - Sam Cassell & Steve Francis

Res: Robert Horry and Mike Newlin (this guy was pure hustle)

Interesting observation... So whom would you have selected besides Shaq as a Center for the Western Conference team? The aging Drob? Injured Olowakandi? 5th option Vlade? Pray tell...

Dominique Wilkins isn't top 50 all time, nor are Bryant, McGrady, and Duncan, but Pippen is. I don't think it says too much.
