Neither EG nor Hill belong on the list. They are on rookie contracts. Pippen, Swift, and Cato would be the big ones for me. Pippen mostly stole opportunity by screwing up a crucual season. Maloney got more than he was worth, but it wasn't a lot in absolute dollars. I hadn't thought Glen Rice was a huge burden and we expected to be able to trade his expiring contract for an asset -- instead, we paid a team with draft picks to take his salary off our hands. So, maybe he does belong on the list.
Only reason I mentioned Griffin is because they gave up a lot for him. Money wise you are correct though he shouldn't be mentioned.
He was a starter or rotation player for all of that time - 7 foot players who can run for 25+ minutes a night and perform at minimal competence and not fall over are overpaid, it's a fact of life in the NBA. It's not like you can pay those guys the veteran minimum.
In all honesty though (sorry to stray), Roderick Rhodes was an incredible steal artist. I watched him rip Payton, Jordan, Stockton, and everyone else like they were children on a playground. The looks in their faces when Rhodes would just take the ball from them. It was uncanny.
