2k11 I believe. But when does Joes contract come up? I think your post hit the spot dead on. If your to build around Yao your gonna need shooters mostly, consistent shoots including the PF. If none of the defenders dare not leave their shooter then it can almost always be a 1v1 in the paint.
But to add on to this, the teams needs to decide on going all the way back court with Yao in the paint or all the way front court and dominate the paint in every which way but half n half isnt working.
Keep Yao, pick up Wade and Nash. As long as we keep our bench and our roleplayers like Battier and Scola we would be alright.
I voted other, because those 4 guys are locks for other teams such as the Nets, Miami and the Knicks. I'd rather go after upcoming stars and "rebuild": Joe Johnson TJ Ford Rudy Gay Mario Chalmers CDR Brandon Roy Aldridge
Curious who we can pick up at 09? Resign artest? or we can package him and Francis expiring for someone good. As for 2k10 I'd get Bosh and sign Tmac for cheap and or let him walk. And hopefully trade Yao for someone good.
So basically you want to get rid of everyone on the Rox. Wade is easily a top 3 player in the league. Whenever a player like that becomes available you have to make an attempt at him. Combined with Yao with the current cast of role players you have an instant championship contender.
Yao's perfect complements are shooters that can shoot high percentage. If we don't shop him we need acquire some shooters and a decent PG who can distribute the ball (actually I always believe that Billups and Hamilton would be able to solve a lot of problems if they were here), and a JVG-alike coach. RA was a good coach but this bunch of players (particularly Yao) just can’t seem to work it out. If Yao is still gonna be used like this, we could benefit more by trading him, and Bosh looks like a better choice for me.
and resign tmac for vet min and houston would be competing for the number 1 biggest worldwide fan base. good business right there
I hope we stay away from Tmac and go after Wade. A threesome of Yao, Artest and Wade would be a great trio to build off of
we need to let yao and tracy go they both have humongous salaries and we let them go .we have alot of cap space and we can sign two other elite players (bosh&dwade or ....amare rather bosh)
Even if we let TMac's $21 million expire, wouldn't we still not have enough cap space to go for a big-name free agent in 2010? We'll still have Battier, a re-signed Artest, and Yao on the books. We'd also need to re-sign Scola that offseason. Keeping TMac would probably be the most sensible thing for us to do given that we have his Bird rights and can go over the cap to re-sign him.
no umm we would have enough even if we resign artest and scola being so that those players that we sign in 2k10 wont be making 22mil off the bat probally 15 or so in the first year and then yao contract next year will be expiring from 18 mil I believe and resign again for around 15 or maybe less with injury prone reasons? i would only keep tmac for a vet minimum but nothing more me personally I'd like to pick up Bosh put Artest at the two and hopefully by then Brooks will have a better understanding of the plays and have him start with Atson leading the 2nd unit. Brooks....Alston Artest....Tmac.....Barry Battier....? (Artest will play his major min here) Bosh.....Scola....Landry....Hayes.....Dorsey Ming....? Head and Francis are last contracts as well, a bit over 4 mil there. (with the case that neither prove to do any good) I know everyone thinks Artest is better with 2nd unit which is probably true but he will start just to get the defensive flowing which he does very well. He would move to the 3 while Tmac (vet min) or Barry comes in to the 2. Bosh could also move up the 5 giving Yao more rest as his body gets older and getting in Scolandry. Bosh would most def help Ming CONTROL the front court. A outside shooting PF would be a nicer asset though. 4 guys on the perimeter would let Ming isolate, beautiful.
