Poor start? Is it that much of a surprise that the Rockets are struggling because of how young they are? Basically everyone on the roster has been given a new role to fill in. Harden went from a sixth man to a 1st option star. Asik was given very few minutes last year to being a starting center with a much bigger role. Chandler Parsons is only a 2nd year player who got drafted in the 2nd round and he's top 10 in minutes played in the NBA. This group of players are very young and inexperienced. It will take time for this team to settle down and figure out their new roles. You can't expect this team to blow out from the start of the gate.
This team could be better. Considering the games we played, we could easily be 7-4 instead of 4-7. But that being said, we are a young team so mistakes should be expected. Better coaching would help.
is that really a surprise? nowadays i always take the CF poll results with a grain of salt, because i feel the results are always skewed due to the influx of you know what. reminds me of the yao era when you know the chinese members always gonna vote certain way.
Besides, I think we need to be consistent in our goal. It's rebuilding, then go rebuilding. Let the rookies play, practise set plays, give out team time to grow chemistry, and prepare for and be patient with more loses (including not hurry to blame.)
What poor start? This is a fantastic start for the youngest team in the league. When you're fielding the youngest team in the league, you should be unquestionably the worst team in the league - but we're definitely head and shoulders above teams like New Orleans and Detroit. I'm excited about the future of this team.
the real question isn't who is to blame for this poor start. it's....what fools thought we would be anything better?
Actually, the race to the bottom is going well; only one more rung on the ladder to go. First round pick here we go!
We have 4 wins so far. 2 of those were over the detroit 1 of those was over new orleans we are young, very talented, and play hard, but our coaching staff is terrible.
And I thought we were reaching the point where people stopped confusing lack of balance, talent and maturity on the players part as something the coaching staff could fix in the short term. Repeat after me - "youngest team in the league ...".
Yes we have a young team but that doesn't excuse some of the coaching mistakes though. Taking Asik out in the 4th quarter so that we lose the rebounding game. The coaches made this same mistake in 3 games. Sitting Lin in OT. Taking Lin out when we had all the momentum. That is 5 pretty big mistakes over the span of like a few games. In that way you can critisce the coaching staff but in other ways you are right we do have a young team. I didn't even include the love affair with Tony Douglas because I think they are going to move TD soon so I can't blame that on the coaches.
Poor start? I think this Rockets team is giving us one of the more exciting starts to a season ever. Except for this last one, every game has kept me cheering and on the edge of my seat. With the youth, energy, and potential on this squad, I feel like each quarter of play has the possibility of providing a huge burst of offense. Even with 20 point deficits, at any moment this team is capable of a big run. The Rockets are dangerous, and so far they seem (to me) to bring out the A game in a lot of our opponents. This year's team is fun to watch and fun to cheer for. And while we have all this raw potential, playing some high energy ball, I'm enjoying the ride. Go Rockets!
Except for taking Asik out for one play you are definitely functioning without complete information like the rest of us. And that rebound does not happen 98% of the time. Was Lin gassed? Did Morey want to see TD in overtime? Love affair with TD??? No I don't see that at all. Make the less obvious but far more likely analysis. There are many many things happening with the team than you and I could ever imagine. The coaches balance many things in their complex role in the NBA. Do not assume that you understand. If you have never coached an NBA team then you are flying blind in the dark like the rest of us. Just imagine that you were sitting across from Morey and voiced your comment. What do you think would be his reaction? I think that if you got a roll of the eyes and a quick dismissal he would be showing kindness. I will guarantee that he would not call you a coaching wunderkind.
Thanks for the response. Interesting point but here is where your comment fails me. None of us know anything though right. So then we might as well just never comment on anything. All of us are functioning on opinion & our perception of things unless anybody on this board has direct knowledge of the Rockets coaching staff. Obviously when everybody is posting they are providing there opinion not facts. I agree the NBA is highly complex, more complex than the most dedicated fan even realizes. But like I said just because we don't understand fully doesn't mean we can't have an opinion. Just a thought.
I thought we would be drafting in the top 10 before the season so I'm not blaming anybody but these poll results are a joke lol.. Not surprised I understand the demographics on this board. Call up Nate silver I suspect this is weighted heavily (A) +3000
