I think we would all have to agree, for as good as Asik is defensivey he is absolutely putrid trying to finish a pick and roll. Dude just doesn't understand how to use all that length and athleticism on the offensive end to pluck the ball out the air and ram it home.

I'm am seriously wondering if the #1 need we have is for a pick and roll finisher rather than a sweet 3-pt shooting big.

Who is this team's best pick and roll finisher? I'm not even going to list Asik as one of the choices.

On a side note, Tim Ohlbrecht was actually very good in RGV finishing the PnR. He didn't necessarily slam it but he does know how to use his length to catch, shield, and finish around the rim. Far superior to Asik in that regard.

Probably Greg Smith or Jones. Haven't really seen enough of Tim, but he looks lost, period, right now, so i wouldn't consider him.

Smith right now...also, he can use his strength to post up as well. He's just outclassed by Ibaka right now.

none, we need a solid big or asik to step up his game, some times his hesitation pisses me off

I voted for TRob simply because he is the most spectacular, the most athletic, with the best springs and good mits to catch in traffic. But honestly....I didn't know who to pick here. How Harden and Lin are playing as well as they have played all season with the severe limitation on our pick and roll is simply amazing. When you consider their productivity in light of this severe handicap it really shows how good they really are. These guys have the potential to totally dominate a season if they actully could turn Asik into a finisher on the level of Tyson Chandler or Dwight.

While I was reading this, I had to get up and go take a dump. While I was sitting there, I thought yeah, this is about how I feel about our bigs ability to finish on the pnr.

Unfortunately I agree with you. I can't remember seeing a legit pick and roll dunk finish up high this whole season. Oh, I know there was probably a couple. I think I remember TRob getting one in like his second game here. But I would almost bet that we had the least slam dunk finishes on pick and rolls than any team in the league.

Although he may be considered the best PnR finisher on this team, when I think about Greg Smith as a finisher compared to the best of the NBA I feel guilty even mentioning his name. League wide he is an average finisher.

Depends on how the PnR is being defended. I'd say DMo because of his ability to hit the jumper.

For all the DH haters, at the least, he would make Lin & Harden way better. Or any good P&R finisher really. Git er dun Moary.

having a great PnR finisher would work wonders for this team. We're already a pretty good PnR team as Harden and Lin are two of the better PnR ball handlers, a finisher would space the floor out even more. It'd be even better if said finisher had a post game, but a man can dream

Asik can set a good screen, but unfortunately, that's the only thing he is good at.

He's okay at defending and rebounding as well. I think he's actually the 2nd best rebounder in the league, iirc.

He's also our best +/- player that plays significant minutes.

I was talking about pick and roll. Setting a screen is the only part of the pick and roll that Asik is good at, unless you consider rebounding the miss part of the pnr.
