While Harden is the best player on the team, I don't think he'll immediately take on the leadership role because he's the newest, wouldn't make much sense to do so, until he's gelled more.
Parsons is the current holder of the Battier Chief for Hustle and Leadership. Only a SF can hold this position.
Even though I voted Harden, but a leader is not necessary the best player on the team, I guess. Chill dude....
Which quality is more important in determining a leader - vocally taking control of the team or being "the guy" on the floor? I know a blend of the two is ideal, but do y'all think a vocal leader like Andre Miller/Kenny Smith or a production leader like Kevin Durant/Tim Duncan is more effective? Tough, so many variables involved, especially team culture (young v. vets, Playoff experience, etc). Chauncey Billups was the perfect leader, IMO. Solid, classy guy able to lead vocally from the PG role, and not afraid to step up and hit the big shot.
No way should patterson be on there over Parsons....Parsons is the leader. Harden is too new to be the leader and i'm not even sure that's a role he can fill. And on a side note, I'm now Clyde Drexler. Like clubbin' baby seals!
Lin Haden an Parsons will all b leaders... Could you imagine if all three of these guys reach their potential!! We could have three budding stars on our team right now!
Both Harden and Lin seem to be rather quiet and reserved and while Parsons seems more outgoing, I see him as more of a goofy guy that doesn't really want to assert himself either. If anything it'll probably be both Lin and Harden as co-captains while they all listen to McHale.
Being a leader does not mean being the best player or having the most experience. A leader is vocal, imposes his will when he wants to, gets others to follow his direction, etc. A leader makes sure the entire unit is functioning well. Lin is more the leader type. He's constantly talking to his teammates, telling them what to do and where to go. Harden is a quiet person and doesn't seem to be directing the team as much as he's more concerned about doing his own job. Does it really matter who's the leader as long as the team wins? This smells of the divided fanbase of Lin vs Melo in NY.
The seems to be more analyst/media driven to say who is the leader of the team, the franchise player, the face of the team etc. Agree that at the end of the day it really doesn't matter, they just all have figure out how to play well together
asik will lead by example parsons will be a glue guy lin will be a play maker harden will be the clutch man mchale will lead them all
In the end wh will get the ast shot? who will we go to when we need a big bucket or inspiration? easy answer, HARDEN.
Lin. I'm usually partial to the pg even though Harden has clearly shown he's the most proven player. In terms of importance, Omer may be the most important player on the court. This is a young group, anything can happen. Linsanity 2.0 can happen. The beard can prove who the top dog is. All I know is, this looks a great group of young guys who play unselfishly and with great energy. How well they do defensively will be the key to a great season and that's why Omer seems like such a good get.
Delfino. He has the experience and I haven't heard anything bad about him so I assume he conducts himself quite well.
