Anyone ever had one of those debates where you just end up "agreeing to disagree?"

Well, O was one of those debates with me.

Of course the debate was about Francis. Heh... :)

I've never even heard of Almu. Is it supposed to be Alum? Typo? Respect? None from me? I'm a jackass? Sorry Almu?

Holy Crap!!!! I just randomly clicked on this thread and saw that long list and my name on it. I figured it had to be some mistake. And then I found this. DavidS, you rock! I figure that I don't post nearly enough for anyone to remember me here (other than those I've met at games, or the few of you here that I have mutual friends/acquantinces with). And all I can remember about DavidS is that someone here thought he was a famous humorist, but that isn't him. I now vow to be sure to read your every post man.

After thinking about this, are you sure you don't mean Kam? Man, that would suck.

My votes at this time: (I apologize for my subjectivity due to the fact that I don't read here enough, but these guys stick out in my head)
1st- MManal - he knows hoops, and his opinions are always backed up by warrant.

2nd- RocketRichNY - I just love his game recaps, but they are so few.

3rd- LA's#1RocketsFan - okay, I know there are 2 or 3 or 5 LA people here, and I'm not 100% sure which one I'm referring to, but I hope it's the right one. This is the Asian guy with a hot wife who went to see Rockets summer hoops 2 summers ago.

After reading the longest current thread in the Hangout, I have to vote for MacBeth. He was my most respected liberal poster, but his recent activities have placed him in my list of posters with the greatest achievements:

    1. Clutch - without him we are not.
    2. Chance - our beloved bard.
    3. Jeff - only a true Rockets geek gets invited to talk about them on the radio.
    4. MacBeth - his true nickname says it all: MacDaddy
    5. Will (Saletan) - very cool to have professional writers as Rocket fans
    6. Another Brother - I have to make it to your show next time
    7. Windandsea - the first, and best, Yao scribe

But since this thread is most respectable senior members, here is my ranking:

    1. heypartner - love the bball analysis
    2. Jeff - ditto
    3. MacBeth - best hangout poster EVER!

If you find the word "crap" that offensive, than I'm not sure that you should be looking at this board anymore. I promise you, you will find much more offensive words in every few posts, but they'll be disguised with *'s and !'s. Hopefully, you'll still be able to figure it out...

And how dare you call me a "young" member? Unless you're talking about my age (and I still wouldn't even know if that's fair since I don't really know how old you are), that was completely unfounded. You registered within about a WEEK of when I registered, buddy. It doesn't make you anymore of an experienced poster if you've posted more. I've been visiting here probably as long as you, or longer - since about 2000.

And all those opinions and suggestions you were talking about having were pretty narrow. That's what I was saying I didn't like about you. It seemed like you picked a viewpoint at some point in the season, and stuck to it as stubbornly as possible. Normally, that's not such a terrible thing, but you refused to give credit where it was due sometimes and always pointed your finger in the exact same direction when you needed a scapegoat. No matter what the circumstances.

Goodie! I get point(s)! Probably don't deserve them, but o well. Well I was considering squeezing you in as my number 3 choice since I wasn't sure who else I could pick...

Thanks. I'll remove StroShow from the list in the final count.

Ok guys, just a reminder, in 1 1/2 days we will determine the final standings, so you still have some time to vote or change your votes.

    Keep them coming!

... there will never be another LHutz.

... likewise, there will never be another KANE.

... and it's too bad that BKagy dropped off the face of the globe. Classic takes on former, er, portly Rockets.

... my next favorite will be the Chinese poster who can hook us exiles in Austin up with a consistent streaming video feed.

This is seriously messed up if Yetti even comes close to sniffing 1st place here.

I can see him winning for most cartoonish poster but that is about it.

Also, is it me or does Newgirl feel that she is right about everything?

I shook my head for like 15 minutes when I read some post of hers that said that the only reason why Wilt Chamberlain didn't win more championships was because of the salaries. Hello, it was in the '60s when Wilt primarily played. I think it was more due to the fact that his teams, for the most part, could never get by a team that had such HOF like Russell, Havlicek, Sam Jones, and before that Cousy, Sharman, and solid role players like Ramsey, KC Jones, Heinsohn, etc.

I voted for Yetti because I have never seen anyone say so much without saying anything at all. It's beyond superficial. It's a rare subtle talent that translates to nothing.
    It's almost Seinfeldian.

He is like a human "FRAGILE" package filler that has no substance and is intrinsically worthless.

    He is my BBS hero.

As far as Newgirl - She has an amazing ability to take what everyone has said or wrote, insinuated, etc... and piece together an understanding of concepts and players without probably ever seeing any of them play.

It's funny that someone born in 1981 could talk about Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlin.

But she sounds credible and at least has taken the time to understand the players, teams, and how they all fit together in the bigger scheme of things. Im sure she's a very smart person with really good organizational skills and inductive reasoning.

The problem of course is that she's probably been a basketball fan for a couple of years and upon close examination, she's just a fraud.

It's like a bootleg. You can't tell the difference unless you really take a close look.

This is not a knock on her. In fact it's quite admirable to see someone engage in a discussion without "the weapons" of a real fan but through sheer effort.

In 10 years, she wil have actually watched enough basketball to argue the merits and argue them based on first hand experience.

You can't replace a passion so another big thumbs up from me.
