I totally agree with you! Why does everyone gush over the Dave Matthews band so much? I think they're Bland with a capital B.

In fact, I hereby rename them: The Dave Matthews Bland.

I also agree with red. Pink Floyd is excellent.

The thing about the Pink Floyd albums is that they aren't so much a collection of songs as they are collective sound experiences. You just lie back and let the musical journey float you away.

Here are some bands/singers I think are tremendously overrated:

    - Radiohead
    - David Bowie
    - Prince
    - Soundgarden

    The Beatles

I cannot stand the Beatles. Basically the Backstreet Boys if they came out in the 60's and were British. The only one with any talent destroyed the band first by claiming they were bigger than Jesus, then by hooking up with Yoko.

    A close second - Nirvana

I think Weird Al described it best:
    "I'm spitting,
    and I'm screaming,
    and I don't know,
    what I'm singing.
    Smells like Nirvana"

That McCartney guy was a no-talent bum. I mean, Yesterday and Hey Jude are two of the crappiest, sappiest songs I ever heard. Get Back, Eleanor Rigby, Can't Buy Me Love, All My Loving, all worthless.

Harrison sucked too. I never heard a worse acoustic guitar than that on Here Comes the Sun.

Damn this thread makes it SO hard to fight off the temtation to say, "You think << insert band name here >> is overrated? What the hell is wrong with you??!!!?!?!?!?!?!"

I've successfully resisted. Here are my votes:
Pearl Jam I hate them with a passion. I also hate everyone who sounds just freakin' like them, which leads to my next most overrated choice:
Creed Dammit, quit sounding like Pearl Jam!
    and finally:
Led Zepplin okay okay, I understand their impact, but they just don't do it for me at all. A great band, sure, but not that great.

I can personally thank 101 KLOL for my not liking Led Zepplin. If they didn't play them ALL THE DAMN TIME, I might like them better.

What did one Deadhead say to the other Deadhead when they ran out of pot?

    "Man, this music sucks."

Cmon Lynus, that's what makes it more fun. [IMG]

Totally know what you mean about the radio killing bands though. I used to be a huge Metallica fan until the radio found out they were the hip band to play.

I'm surprised to see the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith mentioned so much.

As for Pearl Jam, don't like them much anymore, but I still think they smoke Nirvana. Much better songs, and a very talented singer, IMO. My favorite band to come out of Seattle was definitely Queensryche...okay, they weren't really in the "grunge scene"...I'll go with Alice in Chains. Soundgarden is good too.

David Bowie is pretty overrated, I don't know what category he falls into though.

    Metallica is DEFINATELY overrated.

First they encourage you to record their shows, etc...
then many years later they come out AGAINST napster.

Metallica hasn't been any good since Ride the Lightning.....sucked ever since.

Which two songs on Appetite did you like? I personally thought almost all of them were good.
    My pick is Nirvana.

I think the Eagles are overated.

Hotel California grinds on my nerves after the 1st hundred times.

vj, I liked mostly all of Nirvana's songs on that album, I didn't really like teen spirit all that much though. Incesticide was my favorite album from them.

I never said I didn't like Pink Floyd. I said I thought they were overrated. Big difference. I like Pearl Jam too.
