Well since your thread focuses on who is 'most famous' for some reason, that is easy. Ben Wallace. And even if your thread actually made sense and asked who was the 'best player' drafted very lowest or not at all, it would still be easy. Ben Wallace. At least this generation, I'm not going to try and act or compare past decades worth of players. I'm sure there are quite a few more back then when players weren't scouted as heavily and decisions were sometimes based on ridiculous metrics. It doesn't matter if Ben Wallace has never been an offensive player. He impacted way more games in the 5 years he was elite than Manu has. Believe it or not, but the basketball goes both ways down the court. First you try and score, then you try to defend....crazily enough, it turns out that not letting a team score is just as good as plopping in another 2 points on the other end!!!
The most famous lowest pick will be Carl Lewis. Yes, The Carl Lewis who won multiple olympic gold, World record holders etc etc etc He was picked in the 1984 draft in the 10th round!!!!!!!!! Try to beat that!
Manu is more famous when you include people outside the US. He was an MVP in Europe and was the best player on a gold medal winning Olympic team.
Gotta agree here. They guy was a great player-- even an All-Star... MVP, I think. Looking at that draft, our own Rockets picked Rudy T one pick ahead of Pete Maravich in Round One and Calvin Murphy one pick ahead of Nate Archibald in Round Two.
Hey Ottomaton, I know there were a lot of Jones brothers, but I didn't know about Bobby... There was Caldwell, Will and Major... But never knew Bobby Jones was a part of the family.. BObby Jones
I'm looking to see if Ginobili ever led the league in a major statistical category and I can't find a single one, can you? I can find several for Wallace. Is that what you mean by accomplishments? And btw, the best low drafted player ever was probably Artis Gilmore, drafted 117th overall in the 7th round, 1971.
