Yao’s numbers have been pretty consistent. He’s getting about his average every game. I think the numbers can be a little deceiving though. He hasn’t really had a string of good games all season long. There haven’t been very many games where he is the man on the court that’s carrying the team to victory. Just a lot of so-so games where he’s not really a difference maker.

His post up game has been very inconsistent. He’ll go through droughts where he’ll miss every turnaround jumper he takes and gets the ball stripped every time down the court.

Cat has had more good games than Yao. More games where he is the leader on the court. Just look at how good the record is when Cat is the leading scorer. The bad games he’s had are not as bad as the bad games he used to have.

So Yao’s been more consistent, but Cat has been more consistently good.

Thank you! A very sane observation. While I don't doubt that Cat's making great contributions to this team (a couple of 30+ games saved the team) but if you tabulate the variance in scoring game by game I'm sure Cat's is much higher than yao's. At a cursory glance, Cat has 4 games of scoring under 10 points whereas Yao has none, they both have around the same scoring average. This is not to mention the mental errors Cat sometimes makes.

Yao missing the two free throws isn't a mental error? How many times does he bring the ball down just to get it swatted away? Cato is most consistent...

Ford and Moochie :) LOL. I meant Mobley, Cato and Yao in decreasing order. Though Yao's numbers look the most consistent.

Cat slightly in front of Cato... both have been pretty consistent in regards to their strengths. And then Yao, he hasn't scored less than double figures this season, something to be said about that especially since he is such an unselfsih player and rarely gets over 20pts in a game.

If you're talking stat-wise, it's definitely Yao. It's odd, but by the end of the game, he's always somehow right near his average for the season. Never really bad...and never really good. But still good.

I think this question is a bit tricky because the topic is so broad. If we're talking about being consistently good, I really think that Cat owns that title for now. There are nights when he is spectacular and just flat out carries the team, and then there are nights where he's not leading the team but still plays well.

Honorable mentions are MoT and Cato...although the latter's shooting is really hit and miss. Mostly miss.

And of course, consistently bad, which is the easiest to see, is Moochie.

thats quite consistent. 14 or more points in 15 out of 20 games. Pretty good for a 3rd option i would think. All this while day in and day out providing GREAT Defense. Yeah, i would go with Cat easily.

It is not odd, he is 7'6 with skills, getting 17/10 should be bottom line for him.

But "when Yao is hot, rockets(include himself!) will cool him off"...

You can call it either unselfishness or communism.

I never get tired of this.

If it's one thing that is consistent in this forum is the acceptance that meech is where he belongs.

    Here is Yao's line:
    19, 19, 12, 10, 16, 16, 12, 21, 20, 12, 23, 21, 18, 20, 14, 19, 20, 15, 22, 16.

14 or more points in 16 out of 20 including the last 10 games. Per YOUR standard Yao is more consistent. :)

three way tie. Yao and cato have played at a constant level during each game and Cat gets the vote because he is THE one we count on in the clutch

Yao definitely. And he actually puts up numbers in more than 1 category.

But there's a huge difference between statistical consistency and overall solid play. On the latter, I'd say Mobley has been our rock this year.
