I like Chandler and Cisse also. But what are the chances of Rudy drafting a high schooler ? ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
i think chandler will be a bust.. but my sleeper is Omar Cook, Joe Forte and Tinsley ------------------ ***FRANCHISE***
The biggest bust will be Tinsley. Dazzles too much. I've seen him get frustrated by Fredie Williams, a PG with exceptional lateral movement, leading to charges (called) and throwing a few forearms (not called). He might have had a bad day, but seeing a PG having trouble bringing the ball up court man to man gives me doubts. ------------------
I too am not impressed with Tinsley. I think either the Warriors or Magic will pick him up with the 14th or 15th pick. He's bad by no means though. ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited May 28, 2001).]
BUSTS: Diop -- as many others have mentioned, he's the next Yinka Dare. "NBA Body" is not everything. Plus he didn't even particularly dominate in HS. Chandler, Woods -- next Carlos Rogers. Entered the league thin as a rail and never overcame frail physique even despite adding a few pounds. Haywood -- next Kelvin Cato? Troy Murphy -- next Todd Fuller. I hope the Rockets don't draft this guy. But then they drafted the inexplicable Jason Collier. SLEEPERS: Ousmane Cisse -- the beast! Samuel Dalembert -- good defender Joseph Forte -- has killer instinct & skills
I like your sleepers, especially Cisse. I'm starting to like this guy. I would be very happy if the Rockets grabbed him with the 22nd pick. Problem is, will his "guardian" even let the Rockets have a chance at working him out? The only other place they would be able to see him would be the rookie combine in Chicago where teams can get a good look at the players they are not sure about, but the problem is alot of agents are keeping their clients from participating(Richard Jefferson) for fear that their stock could fall. Cisse is probably in the same boat, especially with his psycho guardian/agent. I could see Chandler not panning out like Los, but I don't see Woods doing the same. Carlos never had the shooting touch or overall offensive game that Woods has. As far as Haywood, he's not as athletic as Cato and has a far better offensive game. I see him as a more polished Jamal Magloire. I'm definitely not high on Murphy. He doesn't fill an immediate need for this team, and that's why I'm against drafting him. Collier and Langhi already fill the needs that Murphy could provide. No point in drafting him. Another guy I think is a sleeper is Omar Cook. He is raw to put it lightly, but the guy is simply amazing at pushing the ball. I've never seen a freshman start the break like he did. He has been quoted as saying that his chances of returning to St Johns were "slim and none" which probably means he shot the ball better than expected in private workouts and has been informed that he will be picked by a team if he falls to them. Golden State at 14 and Orlando at 15 are teams that are likely to take a chance on him. ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited June 02, 2001).]
I don't believe that Shaq has only 3% body fat. That would be less than Karl Malone. I don't believe it one bit. Karl Malone was told to put on some fat because he was approaching the dangerously low zone. ------------------
I am always so wrong in who I think will be an NBA bust and who be good. But I will be anxious to see which High School kids do well, and which flounder. With so many in the draft, it could be a big year as far as encouraging or discouragin high schoolers to skip college. ------------------
But then they drafted the inexplicable Jason Collier. And just how could the Rockets have realistically done better than getting Collier and a first rounder this year? Jerome Moiso? Joel Pryzbilla? Etan Thomas? Don't make me laugh. When Collier got playing time and was healthy, he proved to be a very solid backup center, and he definitely proved more in the short time he was healthy than the other possible draftees for the Rockets did all season long. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! (adding to what the Cat said) PLUS whoever we draft at 22 this year will be better than bustbilla! Diop is my tip for big time bust! I think Randolph might be a surprise though, he's got a soft touch around the hoop and some sweet moves! Plus he's not Traylor-size, he's just a little overweight, but I imagine that'll be to his advantage! ------------------
