Actually, the kid was somewhat typical of LOH but he converted to a Lin Fan...he said that Lin wasn't a good player before Houston.

Sorry bout that. Just a joke. Lin clearly is popular across race boundaries. I mean, even the Admiral is clearly a big fan of Lin and sees the specialness in him that many Lin fans see and the Admiral definitely isn't Chinese.

I think his popularity, truth be told, comes from his style of basketball which represents all that is good in basketball versus so much of the and1 style ball that's become popular these days. He plays fast and hard, he gets steals, takes charges, plays unselfish, runs, doesn't quit, and plays smart basketball. I know that a lot of Knicks fans were happy to see winning basketball played unselfishly and probably appreciated that the most from Linsanity.

Anyways, apologies if it sounded like a Lin fan had to be Chinese. I didn't mean that.

actually it's pretty easy for clutch to check this fact . just look at data of the traffic where the bulk of it is coming from.

lol just look at lin, to chinese people in china, he is this odd chinese looking kid which talks and moves more like a black brother. If anything Jeremy Lin forces them to come to terms with their own prejudices towards blacks .

I see this as a positive.

Among high school kids, it's difficult to tell who the real leaders are, especially since there are so many fluff leadership positions in student organizations, not to mention the popularity contest angle to it.

Harvard is not some leadership training academy. It mainly seeks students with high grades and SAT scores, none of which have anything to do with leadership ability.

If Harden wants to be viewed as a leader, he has to do a fair amount of work in defense. You can't just put all your effort into things that show up in stats and let your teammates cover you on things that don't show up in stats. This doesn't even pass the eye test of a casual fan.

True. In a few years, if he's consistently good he'll be dumped into either the "Melo" camp (all points no defense) or the "Kobe/Lebron/Jordan" camp (points plus solid defense).

Did this earlier in the season as well. As the leader you're the face of the franchise during good times and bad.

The numbers vs views is because you probably can vote more than once. I voted three times.

Harden's 23!! He is a superstar. He is unselfish. He is super-talented and well-liked. He can definitely be a leader. Lin and Harden can be a great leadership combo. And Harden's lack of defensive intensity can be overcome. It's not a limitation physically and so I believe that a good coach can bring his defense along. We'll see how McHale challenges Harden on that end.

That kid was never an LOH, he simply didn't know the full trajectory of Lin's path to Houston. He's a kid.

I agree. It's just the percentage is very low.

An analogy would be graduates from the best basketball colleges. Most of the players on the school team would not have a chance to become an NBA player, but if they attend those schools, they have a better chance. And have you ever heard of any one who had never been on a school team made it to NBA?

It also about your readiness when opportunity comes.

I estimate maybe around 10% of the 53000+ CF members have joined after Lin became a Rocket. About 48000+ joined before that. Of course I would not rule out that part of the Yao fans are from Asia.
