"especially since how it is now"? Hate to burst your bubble there on Gullible Street, but every year new undetectable PEDs are created. Eventually the tests catch up to them, but by then, there are MORE undetectable PEDs around. The players are one step ahead of the league on this issue, and will remain so.

Most of the players who have been "caught" recently are the ones whose names were on the BALCO list -- A-Rod, for example. McGwire decided to admit it to try to put the whole mess behind him. Bonds has NEVER been caught and has NEVER admitted it. Same with Sosa.

"Especially since how it is now"? LOL. Bud Selig is in charge -- nothing has changed.

    a) If you forced me to say whether Pujols is juiced or not, I'd say yes. In fact I'd say this for all baseball players.

    b) Why not a dead guy? Jackie Robinson isn't up to your standards? I don't think there will ever be another athlete who did what Jackie Robinson did.

    c) With the rise of TMZ, twitter, paparazzi, and public obsession with athletes, it is very very difficult to find a sports star who won't do anything embarassing. I'll take you back 2 years, would you have believed how things turned out for guys like Tiger Woods, Steve Mcnair, Marvin Harrison, Michael Phelps, Gilbert Arenas, Ben Roethlesberger etc. If any of these big stars make a mistake, someone is quick to report or be the story. Guys actually have to be squeaky clean in order to have a squeaky clean image.

you didn't say "why not a dead guy" before. You said "If you have to pick someone in sports you should pick an old or dead person". As if that was the only option that made sense.

And no, it's not hard to find a sports star who won't do anything embarassing. We're naming them all now. Let's see, QBs: Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Kurt Warner, Matt Schaub, Donovan McNabb.. nothing embarassing. I'm sure I could come up with more lists. That's a ridiculously low threshold.

(and yes, I would have believe this is how things would turn out for Arenas 2 years ago..)

yeah, Pujols has been switching PEDs every year to stay ahead of the testing. And every one of them has been working effectively to keep his production up. And nothing has changed in the last 10 years in regards to drug useage in baseball...riiight. It's all just a publicity stunt

Lets work on your nothing embarrassing list:

    Peyton: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/manning1.html

Brees: Seemingly clean cut guy, of course he had that crazy mom thing, I guess that's not a problem anymore because she committed suicide. Maybe you want your child to have a nonexistent relationship with his or her mother too.

Warner: Ok I agree with you here, he's got a great story and seems as squeaky clean as an athlete can get.

Schaub and Mcnabb: are these guys actually stars? I guess if you're opening up the debate to good and ok players you'd have alot of candidates. Shane Battier would be a fit. I'm concentrating on the actual stars of the league and not bit players.

Since you say you're not surprised by Arenas, were you surprised by Vince Young, Steve Mcnair, and Marvin Harrison?

Guys pull pranks when they're in college. Maybe this one was over the line with Peyton, but I wouldn't be embarassed by something dumb from college. (Honestly I skimmed the link--I gotta get outta here right now)

And on the other guys...yes, I was surprised. I just wanted to point out that Arenas didn't surprise me cause he has always annoyed me
