Very simply, now that we are running with Leinart the lefty, what are your feelings on having Winston on the blindside instead of Brown?

That's not debatable, Brown by a long shot

how does this work? why wouldn't duane just move to the other side so that he's still the blindside tackle? are the positions that specialized that they are better suited to the right or left?

I don't think Brown has allowed a sack this year?

Winston is a good run blocker, but just okay against a pass rush. Brown is good at it all.

I heard a interview somewhere recently where either Duane Brown or Winston were discussing this. They said that the reality is it doesn't really make a great deal of difference with the way most defenses play these days. I think Leinart will be fine.

I think it's generally accepted that Winston is better in the run game, while Duane was groomed to be a pass blocker. They're both talented and can do either task well, but there's a slight edge to Brown.

I agree with this whole post, but I think Brown is a decent margin ahead of Winston in pass blocking. It just seems Brown just swallows up his man many plays.

Winston is no slouch, though. This is part of the reason why we have a top three line in the league. That, and the run game will help Leinart immensely.

In a typical offense drop back offense I would say blind side is important but we mostly run and that doesn't change with the qb. Leinart bootlegging may be a tad bit different but I think a lefty is actually better, since Brown has better feet and speed and will be the one pulling in front to set the edge.

Not sure who might be better in said situation, but Winston commits more penalties.
