Francis was all flash. He was so talented, had the potential to be one of the best. But soo boneheaded.

Francis was a walking shotclock violation. Everytime I hear the words Steve Francis or Moochie Norris, a shotclock buzzer goes off in my head. Gives me migraines. How is it so easy for people to forget that he often led the league in turnovers? He was an idiot. A complete bonehead, a moron.

Brooks may not be smart, but he is not as dumb as Francis. It is laughable to say Brooks makes the same dumb plays. Don't get me wrong, AB does make some dumb plays but he doesnt dribble dribble dribble dribble, flashy pass, pass back, dribble dribble dribble, shot clock violation.

ur biased im speaking off knowledge of the game and these two players having watched both of their careers..

u say its frustrating when AB drives and loses the ball but AB did that more than Francis lol u have no clue, put ur personal feelings aside and make an intelligent assessment

ur giving AB credit for that Portland series win lol laughable again wat have u been smoking? he played great in game 1 and then disappeared for like 3 games u have no clue man

Yao killed the Blazers that series with some clutch 3's from Battier and the tufness from Ron.. ur so biased till ur making dumb irrational statements, go back and look at that series lol get a clue bud

Brooks is averaging almost 3 turnovers per game this season. Francis averaged about 4 per game for us.

The difference isn't nearly as great as you made it seem...

Brooks has a better supporting cast than Francis ever had in his career, take that into account.. Brooks has the potential to be really good..

if Francis worked as hard as the amount of talent he had then he coulda been an all time great.. thats the diff between Stevie and AB

I agree flash and athleticism doesn't always make you the better player. But AB because besides 3p% shooting and speed AB doesn't really have anything better than an average NBA PG. Don't feel insulted, it's just how it is. His rebounding, defense, Ast/To ratio are all near bottom among PGs.

The game is played at both ends, AB gets overrated because fans don't consider how many points he gave up in a game, directly or indirectly.

Francis was an elite rebounding PG, elite foul drawing PG and he's size and strength made him a better defensive player, at least against posting guards.
And his scoring is also more efficient because of those fouls shots.

So the only thing AB has on Francis is not dribbling out the clock. But that really can't cover up so many other weakness compare to SF3 in his peak.

the games Rockets played without Francis, they lost a ton, and they got a top draft pick for that.

Exactly. AB would fit this team better on offense, but it doesn't mean he's better than SF3 in hi prime. Just like Ariza fits RA's system more than Artest but he isn't as good as Artest.

Stevie did work hard. It was his lack of intelligence holding him back.

From what I read, Francis didn't work that hard either during summer time. He was just too gifted. That combined with basketball IQ made him fading so fast once he lost his explosiveness.

No need to get pissy or take it personal. I respect your opinion. Either way I don't feel like the answer is a no brainer. Our opinions differ and that's cool, it's just discussion

Franis averaged 3.5 TOs for his career in 37.5 minutes, AB averaged 2.8 in 35 minutes this year. And Francis has 6 assists to AB's 5.1 this year.

Some fans here made it look like AB is that much better a decision maker over Francis while in fact, both are way below average in that department as a PG.

Can't teach height. Steve has a legit point guard size. Too bad he played more like a shooting guard. He was really fun to watch though.

At Franchise's prime, he was better than Brooks.
However, Brooks is still improving so we'll see.

Physically, Steve Francis was like Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry combined into one player. All their quickness and strength with 3-4 MORE inches of height, and MORE jumping ability. And Brooks and Lowry can really jump for their height.

Skillfully he had all their attributes blended together, Lowry's rebounding, Lowry's getting to the free throw line with bulldog tenacity, Brook's crossover ability, Brook's ability to shoot off dribble. Lowry's shaky jumper and Brook's good jumper combined is like Francis's medium/shaky jumper.

Just Francis was dumber, a little more mistake prone and not as hard a worker off the court.

I'd give Francis an 88 rating, Brooks an 84.

Wink had pretty decent bball IQ especially during crunchtime he just liked to dribble a lot. That last play-off was a decent effort I would have liked to see another play-off appearance after that but McGrady decided to be a hoebag in Orlando enough to get traded to Houston.
