Who is the better player, Aaron Brooks or Steve Francis?

Don't insult Stevie Franchise like this, AB is good but he is not at Steve's level yet.

Compared to Steve Francis, AB0 is Naismith.

 

Francis for me. He was flashy, could score, jump out of the building for a pg. And is known for being the one guy who really embraced Yao at the start. I remember all this talk about how when Yao first came into the league, players kind of ignored him. That he even warmed up/stretched alone.

 

francis would destroy brooks one on one but bball isnt about one on one. id much rather have brooks on this team.

 

I'd say Francis is better he's bigger, stronger and more athletic so he wouldn't be a liability defensively going against the big pg's like d.will, d.rose, billups, and b.davis.

As of now though brooks fits this team better because of his deadly 3 point shot something needed when playing next to yao.

 

Franchise was more gifted individual but from what I remembered from him was the fact that the ball had to go through him on offense in order for him to be effective. Correct me if I'm wrong but I was always cringing when some of the plays were him dribbling out the clock and trying play ISO. (I recall this option being overused)

Brooks is more of a team player and he's definitely more efficient than Stevie was. Much better shooter too, but Stevie was a way better closer, its not even close.

On this team I would choose Brooks over Steve in a heartbeat, definitely a more complimenting player to the team we have now than Steve would be. If only Brooks was more of an enforcing player, he still strays away from contact, which is understandable because of his body size.

 

choujie, I put AB's stats in the playoffs for one reason only, tiger stated AB couldn't hit 40% of his threes, I showed he did. I also stated stats are not everything. I would still pick AB everytime over Francis. Like I said, I'm not trying to kill Francis but flash and athleticism doesn't always make you the better player. I've been a Rocket fan for a long time and that Rocket team was one of my least favorites, it just was not good basketball. Mobley now, gave us more IMO. I think when it's all said and done Brooks has the better career

 

Brooks had a tough night against Rose last game but remember his first game against D Will in Utah, he lit him up if I remember right. Ab also prevents a problem for these guys with his speed. Give and take

 

How do you know what I think about Francis, you just joined this year unless you are another of the banned brigade coming back in....

As for Francis, I think AB is more of a team player than Steve was....

Steve was a more athletic player, a great athlete but not all that bright basketball wise.

AB has a much higher basketball IQ, IMO.

There was a time when Steve Francis could impact a game like a Dwayne Wade...


Steve has a tarnshed legacy, but a prime Steve would eat Aaron Brooks alive...


That said, Aaron Brooks is perfect for a Rick Adelman system If he would play some defense...

AB has a higher IQ? thats laughable Brooks makes the SAME boneheaded plays Steve used to make.. wat are u talking about? check ur vision Idk wat games ur watchin

Francis was the better overall player.. a better rebounder, light years better on defense, a better passer (AB struggles to make entry passes) a better finisher, and way tougher..

Francis a better all around player plain and simple, Brooks is a scorer thats it

 

great point.. AB is a system PG when I think about it, but hes still good, but Franchise all day
