if Lebron wanted to, he could easily score like Durant. I picked Lebron with Durant a close close second. where's Melo?
I'd say Monta Ellis, but that's just giving him a green light to shoot with no other responsibilities.
Are you kidding? He plays 41 minutes in one of the fastest pace offenses in the league and only scores 25.5 points which is less than any of the guys mentioned in this thread. Oh and it takes him 22 shot attempts to do it, which is also more than any of the guys mentioned in this thread. So basically: -Less points scored per minute -FAR less points scored per possession -Horrible offensive efficiency That's your pick for best scorer in the league? Ellis is one of the worst chuckers and most egregious ballhogs in the game today. He's pretty much the king of the category. Somebody needs to put a shock collar on him and fire it off every time he takes a bad shot or turns the ball over.
Bron has the best overall basketball skills among them but specifically focusing on scoring, I would give Melo the advantage. I actually did not focus on the stats but by watching them play and I would say Melo hits more tough shots than any of them. He even hits shots in the presence of the other guys locking down on him.
best scorer is definitely Carmelo Anthony. sure Durant leads the league in scoring, but look who else is scoring on OKC. Denver has more weapon to take load off Anthony.
has to be lebron. if his only job was to pile on points. he isnt even looking to win scoring title...entirely... and he's still just a hair behind KD.
Kobe. Has all the moves in the game. Shooting with a mangled finger and still putting up 25+ ppg. He can score on anybody any time he wants.
Brian Cook.... In all seriousness, I'd go with KD. He scores so without any effort, much like the Tracy McGrady of the Orlando days. He has no range. I think Lebron's range is inside the three-point line. He makes the three quite a bit, but it's out of his comfort zone.
I voted for Lebron because he's leading the league in points per minute and he scores more efficiently than the other guys. For all of you saying one of the other guys is the best scorer because they can make tougher shots, can you please explain your logic to me? It doesn't matter if the guy makes tougher shots. The fact that Lebron doesn't even have to attempt tough shots is just another point for him in the argument, IMO.
I'll give the nod to Kevin Durant over Lebron based on Kevin Durant's shooting percentages. I feel more confident having Durant sink a jump shot anywhere on the court compared to Lebron. I think Lebron has to up his jump shot and FT% before he can be heralded as an all-around scorer.
carmello just making scoring look effortless he can do it all off the dribble, post and shoot from the outside. kobe is 1b if melo is 1a just because kobe has lot some of the athleticism with his age durant will take over both of them soon enough as soon as KD develops a better post game
Durant. Most points and scores at a better percentage than Lebron. Lebron has him at FG%, but Durant's superior 3 point % and FT % cause Durant to win total scoring percentage....by a tiny margin.
You might ask this again after the playoffs. Kobe doesn't dominate the ball as much as he used to, but he has the best supporting cast out of all of the top scorers. But I'd be willing to wager that he'll be the top scorer in the playoffs.
"Best SCORER" can mean a lot of different things. The two most important criteria, for me, is how frequently the player scores when he's on the floor and how efficiently he does so. ^^Great post I was just about to say that I think a lot of people here are defining "best scorer" as the most skilled offensive player. If that's the case then it's Kobe Bryant by a mile (or five) but if it is who scores the most efficiently then I think it's Lebron and I think he could be an even more efficient scorer if you put him on the Nuggets or Lakers where he would be surrounded by guys who can get their own shot or on the Thunder in Durant's role where he can literally focus on nothing but scoring the ball himself on offense.
To add to this, I think people overwhelmingly weigh pure jump shot ability in these discussions. Nothing wrong with that, just a trend I've seen. I haven't seen enough Melo or KD games to make a call, I hope to rectify that in the playoffs.
