Streetball and NBA are two different styles of basketball, yes. The fact that you can succeed in both though, speaks levels on your talent and basketball IQ. You are right about Lloyd Daniels and a lot of other streetballers who go to the NBA. That's exactly my point too, a lot of them don't do well in the NBA. That's what makes guys like Skip special. The EBC legend Homicide is at the Raptor's training camp right now, so if he makes the team it should be interesting to see how he does in the league.

I think the fact that you can succeed in the NBA says a lot. Suceed in streetball means you are better than a lot of people, sure, but still not that important.

I contend that Matt Bullard would have been a fantastic streetball player. Laugh if you want, but the guy could have scored at will. Nobody plays any defense and Matt would automatically be one of the best shooters in the "history of streetball." Unfortunately, Matt would get embarassed a lot, wouldn't do a lot of embarassing of his own, and as such wouldn't last. I have no idea what that says about talent level?

I never liked his NBA game, but Steve Francis gets my vote on this one.

Kenny Smith was a playground legend in Brooklyn. Don't sell "The Jet" short.

I don't know why everyone is so concerned with "streetballers". Everyone in those videos CARRIES the ball, DOUBLE dribbles, and TRAVELS.

My vote goes to the Black Hole..

    Lewis Lloyd....

He was your all around streetball player... Would kill ANYONE 1 on 1 and would get KILLED by them, because he played no, none, nada, nothing Defense.

1990 Dunk Contest: the Jet vs Nique Finals

    1990: Kenny Smith's Backward Bounce-Off-the-Glass 180
Before he was giving nicknames on TNT's Inside the NBA, Kenny "The Jet" Smith was rockin' rims. He received a 49.8 (out of 50) for this. We have to ask: What 0.2 didn't the judges like?

Wait a minute...I recall everyone HATING on Steve all of his final season with the Rockets b/c he was too much of streetball type player and now everyone is drooling over the acquisition of skip-to-my-lou  I know Rafer is more of a pass first type and probably smarter player but I am bewildered especially after Steve was criticised and blamed for everything that went wrong in the City. It was almost a crime to defend stevie on this board and now everyone is jumping for joy with this acquisition. How times have changed.

that's one of the coldest dunks ever in a slam-dunk contest. I still remember it and I haven't seen it since then. Didn't he touch the backboard with the ball and then dunk it? If you can't get a fifty for that, then Jordan shouldn't have gotten one for going free-throw line. Part of Kenny's problem was he played in Sacramento, before they were good, so he got no name-value.

I always ask this when talking about him in the dunk contest. Does anyone remember him in a commercial with Super Dave for Nike Air Forces? He does a couple of dunks and then they put Super dave on this machine like a catapult and it slams him into the backboard.

I was sort of thinking that too. It's kind of funny. But it seems like Alston should be a better passer and has toned down his game to fit a role player's status. God help his soul if he goes dribblemania on us and starts dominating the ball. It won't be pretty.

i'll add that's why NBA players play NO DEFENSE when they go to these Rucker Park events.

Plus what's so embarassing about streetball? Someone double dribbles, carries the ball, eats up the 24 second shot clock, just to bounce the ball off your head or pretend to be a harlem globtrotter. you know what is embarassing?

Would you want to d a guy as ugly as him? When I see a real ugly dude on the courts, I'm afraid of him cuz I figure he got some mental scarring or something, if I play up on him too hard, he might like bite me or something.

    Nice little video
Is Skip the one with the headband or is that Steve? I couldn't tell. By the way you should tell everyone there is a sick jam by Derek Anderson in there as well.

Steve has the headband on. He has one crazy sick behind the legs move in this vid. And when was this video made, because DA did have a nice jam. Hopefully he hasn't lost all his hops.
