Dwight is a beast man. He might not have the shooting touch, but neither did Shaq, but he still dominated and put up big numbers. Yao might have the shooting advantage, but Dwight clearly has advantage over Yao in Rebounds, blocks and interior scoring, which centers are suppose to do and he does it at this young age is truly a great center.
Dwight is more athletic, run the court much better, and is better at attacking the D Team thrown at him
Oh, I hear you, genius. Now, are you telling me teams do not D up on Howard because he is dominant like Dream was offensively (cough, cough) so they just...give up? Did you just compare Howard's offense to Dream's. Are you telling me that Howard doesn't see double team because he is Dreamish dominant in offense, not because the other teams know they can handle him one on one? I can't wait to see your reply, genius.
only mental midget would understand that D Howard, a la the Dream, has too much quicknes and adroit footwork, for D Teams. by comparision, Yao doesn't have the quickness / footwork, and doesn't know how to play BIG, to neutalize the D team. thank you for making it so easy for me to expose the moron that is you.
Wasn't Shaq averaging almost 30 a game at one point though? I disagree on the interior scoring part. If you get it to Yao down low he's automatic, just like Howard is. Thats why teams front Yao. They don't want him to have the ball in the post.
Did you just admit that you are a mental midget so you understand that? ROFL. I thought it was my job to expose you. Just one thing, stop comparing Howard's footwork to Dream's. Even your grandma would find it hilariously r****ded of you to talk about Howard's and Dream's footwork in the same sentence. Stop insulting Hakeem, you moron. And if you still think team would give up making an effort to defend a player just because he had exceptional quickness, you are dumber than a sack of nails. Thank you to have said this for me to you. Yes, I agree it's so easy to expose a moron like you.
Howard's footwork? Even a slow footed Yao could guard Howard one on one easily. If anything, Howard doesn't have good footwork yet. Yao's footwork is much better. Howard's ability to handle D team is also much worse than Yao's, that's why Magic's first offensive option is hedo turkoglu, who wasn't even an all star. Comparing Howard's foot work with Dream's is simply laughable. No real center ever came close to Dream's footwork yet.
I don't hate Dwight, but you'll see what I said is truth maybe 10 years later after Dwight finishes his basketball career..
no offense...but my impression from your posts is that you don't know nothing about NBA basketball at all.
You are forgetting a couple of key facts in this argument though: -In the days of Dream, you couldn't double a guy without the ball. Now you can. Thats how people guard Yao. They have a guy front him and put a guy behind him to help if we try and go over the top of the defender. Dream was so dominating because sometimes he could score before the double team, and if the double made it there he could just pass it out to the open guy. -In the Detroit series, Howard was neutralized by one guy. Forget being able to split doubles, he was squashed offensively by one guy (usually it was a different guy as the game went on, but in any one possession he was generally guarded by one guy). -Howard averages 20 points a game. You are comparing him to guys like Dream and Shaq, that averaged nearly 30 points a game at some point in their careers. Don't even talk about offensive dominance until he can get to that point. Yao has gotten closer to that dominance than Howard and I still wouldn't make comparisons between Yao and Dream/Shaq.
I am no means a fervent Dream fan, like other posters or Dwight hater. But, if you compared Dream to Dwight, something is seriously wrong. Dream (Shaq, David Robinson, and few others) had better numbers in their first season than Dwight did last year. Not saying he won't become as good, but he needs alot of work in his game to become what Hakeem was. I don't see it. That makes no sense whatsoever. A coach double teams a player, because usually one defender cannot stop him alone. So naturally, you would put two defenders on him to somewhat slow him down. The main reason, teams don't double team Dwight is because, they can keep him out of paint and body him up with one defender. No need to throw an extra defender on someone who doesn't have a expansive shooting range or not dominating players in the paint. Again, just because a player is a better athlete doesn't make them a better player. Comparing Dwight to Yao, is a fairer argument or comparsion than to Olajuwon. Even at that, Yao is a player than Dwight. Howard is only a better rebounder and shot blocker. Oh yeah, I forgot Dunking, which is like almighty in basketball to some people. On the other hand, Yao is a better scorer, has wider shooting range, greater shot selection, better FT shooter, better go to player, greater offensive skills, draws more attention away from opposing defenders, better one on one defender, better post defender, and both are almost dead even on turnovers (Howard averages a few more).
You have been following me around like a bad smell and calling me names. What's wrong with you. Just put me on ignore if what I say annoys you that much, IDIOT! I still think Howard >>>>>>>>> Yao. Bite me.
So Dwight Howard is a better team player and contributes more to winning because he is a far superior rebounder and shoots a far superior percentage from the field? Didn't I just say that? Is it really your position that Dwight Howard, one of the strongest and most athletic young men in the history of basketball, led the league in rebounding at the age of 22 because his teammates are poor rebounders? Are you really indicating that Dwight Howard rebounds three more shots per game over his career than Yao Ming because Orlando has poor rebounders and the Rockets have great rebounders? Or maybe it's just that Howard is a freak with quickness and leaping ability that enables him to snag rebounds anywhere near his area while Yao is slow footed and slow leaping and can only rebound what pretty much comes right to him. Hey, would you rather shoot 59% on fewer shots to score 20.7 points per game or shoot 50% on many more shots to score 22 points per game? That's a pretty easy one but somehow you've made it sound a lot more complicated. As if shooting 50% on jump shots is more effective than shooting 59% around the basket. This is the great myth of Yao Ming, how he makes everyone so much better than players like Amare or Dwight Howard because he draws all these double teams. If Yao Ming draws so many more double teams then why did he only average one more assist per game than Dwight Howard last year? In fact, for their careers Yao Ming averages 1.7 assists per game and Dwight Howard averages 1.4 assists per game. This, by your very own admission, with Yao Ming drawing more double teams and being far more flexible on offense than Dwight Howard. Sounds like a pretty weak argument.
Dwight is such a beast he got blocked twice in one game by CHINESE GUARDS THAT IS DOMINATION the sad truth about Howard is that his career highpoint will be putting on a cape and throwing down a dunk where he didn't even touch the rim to slam it home
At this very moment, without a single game being played in 08/09 I would have to say Yao Ming. Sure Dwight Howard is absolutely amazing to watch, but most of his points come from his sheer size and offensive rebounding. Dwight and Yao are still similarly good at shot blocking. Yao is far better at creating his own shot (as in he actually has offensive moves other than plowing through defenders for a dunk), much better jump shooter, and free throws set him far apart. Talent wise, I'd have to go with Yao. However, I believe this season Dwight will far surpass Yao, especially considering Dwight will now will a #1 offensive player while Yao will probably be our 3rd option many times in games. Tinman I'm sure will argue this same argument all day. Dream was far better talent wise, but, frankly Shaquille O'Neal was a better weapon to have on your team. Championships speak for themselves. Same type argument IMO.
