you should check out saudi actors. they DO NOT do any type of PDA or partake in any "classless" acts typically. because they would probably be killed.

there movies suck but are very very classy. all at the same damn time.

I personally cannot stand Will Smith.

Especially if he's being all "cool" acting.

He's easier to take in more dramatic roles.

So many actors you guys mentioned bring too much of themselves into their roles. Which isn't bad, hell Hollywood wants that. But its called acting. So guys like Dicaprio, Denzel, Pitt, DeNiro their personalities always kind of seep into their onscreen characters.

I saw two guys in particular while skimming; Jamie Foxx and Heath Ledger. Those two guys pretty much lose themselves in the role. Realisitically you could watch 10 Things I Hate About You, Lords of Dogtown, Dark Knight, and Brokeback Mountain and not know you were watching the same actor (Ledger).

    Marlon Brando

But I love watching movies with any of these guys:
    Tom Hanks
    Johnny Depp
    Leonardo Dicaprio
    Daniel Day Lewis
    Will Smith

    Katherine Hepburn.

Hard to argue that she isn't the greatest actress of all time.

Pacino is likely my favorite with deniro close in second...

But Im surprised to see Russell Crowe only mentioned once, I don't remember his last bad movie and all his roles have generally been fantastic. Currently he's in my "if he's in the movie I'll watch it" category. Depp and bale are getting in there as well.

Nope, can't do it. There is no "best".

But there are only a handful of actors (actresses are actors too) that I have loved EVERY performance I've ever seen them do. These are actors that I'll go see a movie just because they're in it.

    Morgan Freeman
Jack Nicholson (am I really the first to mention him??)
    Robert Duvall
    Paul Newman

hmmm... didn't come up with any women. There are so many I love, but none met the "every" performance qualification. Maybe the closest would be Judi Dench.
