Asik is not a top 5 center. Howard,gasol,hibbert,bynum,peckovic,vuvuchek(orlando),noah,and when healthy bynum are all better than asik.
Parsons is the most clutch player we have on the team right now, that alone places him in the top 3. Parsons is also responsible for guarding the opposing team best offensive player more often than not, so there is also that. The problem with Parsons is that his offense sucks ass. If he could improve his shooting he would be awesome, but he's an average Joe. Here is how I see the team right now. 1. Howard 2. Harden 3. Parsons 4. Everyone else
Obviously, Morey, the coaching staff and fans have different ideas on this topic. While it's natural to think Horward will be the secondary offensive option besides Harden, I just read in another thread Morey said Lin will be the second guy, and hence it makes Horward the 3rd option?
We don't really have a clear cut 3rd best player imo since everyone brings something completely different to the table. I'd say Asik though since he's more important to the team than Lin or Parsons.
Just saw this poll...looks like the LOF are here in full effect. It's actually not even close...Parsons is the answer. If we didnt have Lin, Bev would just get increased minutes. Same goes for Bev. Asik is most likely coming off the bench...and he gets 8 mil per year. Parsons is a starter...we dont have a back up that is nearly on his level...and hes getting paid peanuts. Parsons is the 3rd guy in terms of talent and value.
Parsons is the 3rd best player. Lin the 3rd most important player on this team. Lin's plays will relieve the load from Harden. He is a better playmaker than Parsons and that is what we need right now on this team
The fact that Parsons is the clear starter while Lin and Asik might come off the bench doesn't really say anything about his talent nor does it mean he's a better player. It just means we're deeper at the 1 and 5 positions. Harden wasn't a starter in OKC but it was obvious he's the 3rd (some may say 2nd) best player on that team. Though yes I agree, that guy is ridiculously underpaid.
OP did this all wrong. Should've started a thread asking who the best player/2nd best player on the team was. Make sure Lin is one of the options to choose. It is guaranteed to be competitive.
Yeah maybe but parsons got 56 more than lin for 3rd place. Surely that cant be LOF trolling him to be at 1 or 2? Anyway I think the poll proved my overall point that our number #3 is not very far away from our number#5 in terms of value, importance, overall etc. I also feel there is a big dropoff between 2 and 3 as well with rockets. This poll to me illustrates that it might be time to make a play on a #3 with parsons, lin, asik, bev as the bait. I think in some ways the 'value' on what we can get for parsons lin bev asik will never be any higher than it is now and we need to sell high. I mean lin isnt going to become a star. solid sure. star no dont think so. Parsons is good but not sure if star(could bite us to lose him). Asik is what he is which is just a good solid inside dude..and beverly is a scrappy role player. But all of their value is pretty high right now. With exception of maybe lin but its not like lin is miles worse than the other 2nd tier guys like dragic, udrih. We could still shed or get something for lin too even. That said, I think we are probably stuck with lin but more because theres not much else out there. Think about it .. its not like we are going to somehow trade for cp3 or curry. So I am okay with not including lin in any piece because he has no real trade value anyway. Verdict: Stuck with Lin, keep parsons for the upside, asik bev garcia + fillers as our strongest offer
Kinda funny... I spend plenty of time arguing with LOF's. And I voted for Lin. And people are saying that Lin is getting votes because of LOF's. I think Lin is better than Parsons. If we're talking about value to the team, that's a different conversation. The OP made this confusing by making both of those a component of the poll question: "Who do you think is our 3rd best , 3rd most important player? basically #3 rockets" Two different questions rolled into one.
