They're raising Rafer's trade value! Also in the interview yesterday, RA said he was gonna play 10 each half this game.

Bill and Matt just said on the pregame, that Chuck would start at the 4 instead of Scola.

Matt Bullard just said that they are going to start with the same starters from last year today. Just an FYI... he could be wrong ;)

Edit: beat me by mere seconds! :)

Looks like he was right. Sports.yahoo also says Hayes in the startin' all along with Rafer. Well, Scola will kill them off the bench...

What I meant was, people are making too much of a deal about tonight's starting lineup. If Rafer starts, it does NOT mean that Adelman thinks he has earned it so far. Nobody has earned anything so far except T-Mac and Yao. This is just the first game of the preseason. They just want to see different lineup combinations.

Agreed 100%. I don't get why people jump to conclusions about everything.

    Rafer was very efficient tonight.
SF3 only had several mins PT.

However, that is just the first perseason game.

Care to place a sig bet on that? Just a regular sig bet. i heard it here first and last. There is a better chancer of me starting at sg then Francis and James isn't starting at the pg position no matter how much you want him to. He's coming off the bench. despite a great training camp if anything was evident tonight it's that he isn't a pg. he can play pg, but he's a sg in a pg's body. James would start at sg before Francis would just so you know

Some are, some aren't. It is just the first preseason game. Some may know a little more then others about certain things.

Rafer's starting tonight was a direct result of him earning the position so far. I must have said 100 times Rafer is a great fit in Adelman's offense and you would see a different player. You did. he exceled. Some hate him so much that they won't give him credit no matter what. it's cool though. Things went exactly like I said except the switched Hayes in at the last minute for Scola because the felt it was a better matchup.

Did tell you Rafer would excel? Yes
Did I tell you James would come off the bench ? Yes
Did I tell you that if Rafer and Luther played well that there was a really good chance you would see Steve glued to the bench? Yes

Just for arguments sake let's say i'm a great guesser on the first two. Who on this board predicted that or said that about Francis except me?

No, because I have no idea what I am talking about! This is a fan forum, not ESPN. I am just making stuff up and having fun doing it! Here, I get to be coach and general manager. And, tonight, I think I want to be the owner too. And just for old times sake, I am starting James and Francis at the guards despite the fact that they both looked lost in tonight's game. (along with everybody else in the second half). So there.

Well, you tried to imply you knew what you were talking about by the way you worded your post. Reread it and tell me what you think.

In any case, have fun. Start Yao at pg and make Tracy player/coach while you're at it. This is a board to have fun but not one to come across like you know what you're talking about and then say "i have no idea what I'm talking about." You confuse other posters. However, it doesn't bother me so do as you wish

i also said james/rafer/head would get more playing time than Francis and that people who thought Francis would be a major contributor would be severely disappointed.

Let me say it another way, we are fans. We see things, we think we know things, we like certain players, and we don't like others. Many of us have played at some level, usually not very high. It is about having fun talking about the Rockets. Historically, James and Francis have displayed more offensive skills than Rafer has, not Rocket science. I really want TMac at the SF, I think he will be much more effective there. I think his long range "chucking" days are over, he needs to play inside. Francis can play the SG position, why not? Or maybe Bonzi. James lit it up with the Raptors two years ago. What the new coach will do, nobody, and I mean nobody on this board really knows. Supposition is the name of this game. Fan talk is a unique language.

That's not about that. We have Brooks and MJ. But Rafer played really well last game. He made some outside shots. If he can keep it up I'll be glad to have him on the roster

I agree with you somewhat. Some people are have access to things others don't. Like I can tell you for absolute certainty that Francis will not be starting at sg. No chance, no prayer, just not happening. I can tell you for absolute certainty that Mike James won't be starting the 2. No chance, no way. Those aren't assumptions, guesses but rather facts.

Now just expressing that you'd like to see, I completely agree with that (in terms you should be allowed to without being bashed).

TMac is a SG. That's his position. We aren't taking Shane out of the lineup or playing him out of position, then having an undersized two guard to start the majority of games. Now, will TMac see time at SF, of course. he always does. Will James and Francis both see time at SG, absolutely. In fact, one of them will spend the majority of time there. As of now, James is the backup pg and Head is taking the bulk of Francis's minutes. Steve has a a short period of time to change that.

Maybe not asset but as long as he can be a real playmaker of this team I want him to play here.
