The implication, to me, is that Kevin Martin believes either Brooks or Yao is our 4th best player. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but it just seems like an odd way to frame a statement. Four just seems like a peculiar number to use. For example, he could have said "two of our starters", or "two of our best players". Where do you get a ranking between the four players from? It is obvious, as DD says, that he is talking about himself, AB, Yao and Scola. But there is absolutely nothing in his comment that would imply anything about who of the four is better than the other, so where does your "4th best" idea come from? I think it is an unnecessary comment, and actually also a pretty telling one about his mindset, as it seems to show that he measures a player's value mainly by his scoring.
Well, like I said, I might have been reading too much into it. It just caught my attention that he said "our top four players", when he could have said "two of our starters". For example, lets pretend our top two players were injured, and he were to say "our top two players". But I now agree with the above post that interpreted his statement to mean that there is a considerable drop off from 4th to 5th. Either way, he seems to be snubbing someone.
I guess in his defense, you could argue the ranking by him saying "two of our top four" as opposed to "our two best players" -- that could show some thought of him considering himself or Scola to be amongst the top two ... but that's nitpicking. I didn't see anything wrong with the statement either.
well, essentially it means the same thing. Usually your top 5 players of a team will be starters. AB and Yao being out is 2 of our Top 4. Shane isn't really considered top so thats why he said 4 maybe? lol Or it could simply just be the way he talks.

Oh how quickly forget. A healthy Yao (meaning Yao of 2 seasons ago) is by far the best player on the team. 1. Yao 2. Kmart 3. Scola 4. Brooks 5. no clue.
The BEST 4 players we have 1. Scola 2. Martin 3. Brooks 4. Ming So 2 of our top 4 players are out... HOWEVER - I don't think that's what Martin is trying to say at all. Martin is saying that we have 4 'go to' players in the team - and 2 of them are 'out' right now. IE - What Martin is saying is that our best 4 players include Ming, Scola, Brooks and Martin - in no order, but that's our top 4. This board is hyper sensitive and overly paranoid in analyzing statements from our players!
