he's a stat filler in college. another hustle guy who's tough enough in D, enough instincts. plays like a vet. hopefully he can work out. canaan should be with the team now. we need another shooter.
Not sure if he is a good defensive player or not. That is usually not a good sign. I also see that he has a decent 3 pt percentage.
Anyone got ESPN insider? Hamilton's impact on Houston's rotation http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/nba/rumors/post?id=22709&ex_cid=espnapi_public
Hamilton's impact on Houston's rotation By Joe Kaiser | February 20, 2014 3:02:27 PM PST After rumors that Jordan Hamilton could be headed to New York for Beno Udrih, the Denver Nuggets ended up shipping him to Houston (per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports) in exchange for Aaron Brooks. In the end, the Nuggets received the veteran point guard they coveted, and Hamilton ended up on a better team. So what type of role can we expect him to play with the Rockets? Hamilton has a chance to fill a role in Houston similar to the one Harrison Barnes is playing in Golden State this season, as an athletic combo forward who can score off the bench. Barnes and Hamilton are built similarly, and though Barnes is more highly regarded in most circles, it's Hamilton that has routinely graded out higher in terms of player efficiency rating. The third-year pro out of Texas ended last season with a 16.98 PER and is currently at 13.61, whereas Barnes went from 11.08 as a rookie to 10.52 this season. The issue with Hamilton during his years in Denver has always been a lack of playing time; after playing right around 10 minutes a game during his first two years, he's up around 17 MPG this season. Look for him to be counted on for 15-20 minutes a night on his new team, taking some of the bench minutes that had previously gone to Omri Casspi and Francisco Garcia.
I don't really like the comp, offensively they are somewhat similar but Barnes is reportedly a much better defender (though I've not watched a whole lot of Hamilton).
Watched him a lot at UT: - Nice size/frame. Strong. - Below-average athlete. Plays with "heavy feet". Hurts him mostly at the rim and on D. - Great range. Shoots a set shot, can light it up when hot. - Streaky shooter and offensive player with a questionable shot-selection. Gunner's mentality. - Strong rebounder for an SF/SG. - Underrated playmaker when he wanted to be, but that was when he wasn't in shoot-at-all-costs mode. - Defensive effort wasn't always there, but was decent when he tried. More athletic players would get by him, understandably. Overall, I think his range, size and scorer's mentality could be an asset off the bench in Garcia's minutes. The problem is that he's incredibly streaky too, and if you don't control his role/minutes, his gunner's mentality can hurt you more than help. It's up to our player development to get him to become a more consistent player, if we ever see him becoming a key cog in our rotation.
Didn't see this comparison, but I'm thinking Ariza 2.0. Not really too quick or great handles, guess we'll see what we got. Take a roll of the dice on a younger kid rather than keep AB bottled up on the bench. Hope AB lights it up in Denver.
Damn. That's not what I like to hear But then again, if the Rockets gave a **** about defense, Ronny Brewer would be playing.
